Anybody Have an LDS Equipped Deuce?

Mine came from the Guard with an LDS. As cooling was mentioned, unless it's over 80 degrees outside, I rarely run over 160 degrees.

    M816 stuck in Groom, TX

A little caulk and a self tapping screw would plug it if it's not that big.

MEP 003A, is it worth the extra $$$ for the ASK?

I have one with the ASK. Getting at things is a PITA, but I like it. The neighbors like it, I guess? None of your neighbors will care when they are worrying about their lights being off.

    Radiation detection

Funny you mention that. I remember a guy that had something similar....don't remember the isotope, but he of course had his dosimetry stripped, and he had a designated toilet to urinate in, after which we would have to survey.......

    Radiation detection

I don't think you would anyway. When we took air samples, it was about 1 cubic meter, and even then sometimes there wasn't much to detect. Sometimes it was a whopper when there were temp inversions, detecting any measurable activity from only the air surrounding the probe wouldn't get anything...

    Radiation detection

Your GM detector isn't reading the radon. Your Radon daughters of lead, bismuth and polonium doing a manner of beta decays like you say is what you'd read. In Idaho for instance, which has a phenomenal amount of Radon in the winter, the abundance of static electricity on your knees and elbows...

    Radiation detection

Really Chuck, I'm just joking with anyway, and I haven't really been following the discussion on meters, but if I had one to pick, I'd pick a frisker of one of many variants. Reason being, I'm not as concerned about mR/hr as I am counts per minute. A frisker will give you good all purpose...

    Radiation detection

Chuck, I appreciate the breakdown on gamma rays, but really, I've been there, done that. As a person that has handled thousands of tagged pieces of radioactive material, packed high level waste while wearing fully body suits and forced air hoods, sluiced resin, deconned nuclear work sites...

    Radiation detection

His analogy is accurate. When dealing with low or high level radiation sources, although the dose rate is of fairly significant concern, the source is equally, or more important.

    Iowa : registration/insurance

I'm registered 11 ton for around $275 or so. You get 10% fudge factor. Insurance is a commercial policy through State Farm for about $35/month. I have yet to get a Class D.

    Towing a deuce

More illegal than towing it in the first place?

    Towing a deuce

A friend of my father in law brings 300 small bales of hay in on a 40 foot gooseneck behind a F250 dually. I'd imagine rather illegal, but been doing it for years. Of course them big brakes on that trailer negate the stopping problem.

I just bought two MEP 701a generators, did I do OK or did I blow it?

Two 701's and a trailer for $1314? Seems alright to me if they are good units.

    Radiation detection

Some things are just better not known about. You can spend a career learning about radioactive materials. Besides, you might not want to know how much of it you are exposed to everyday.

    002 vs 002a and 003 vs 003a GenSets

I live in the midwest, in a state that has less people than Chicago. I'm guessing 90% of the civilian populations vehicles and generators are gasoline. Unless the trucking industry has a run on diesel, I'm betting I'd be OK. We don't have large scale natural disaster like hurricanes to worry...

    002 vs 002a and 003 vs 003a GenSets

I've had my house with the 2 ton A/C, one fridge, two freezers, and two window air units, as well as the 1500W of lights in my shop, AND it's 2 ton A/C unit running off the 003, cycling between 25 and 55%. To me, it's a no brainer. If you want just the essentials, an 002 is great. For me, if...
