i assume that you are either missing the dash pad entirely or your sick of the grey one that every truck seems to come with.
I pulled my grey one out and sprayed it with black vinyl dye, turned out great.
as for the voltmeter, a few guys have parts trucks and will probably be responding to...
beau, can you take a few pics of the turbo setup, esp the tube going into the intake. pm me if you like or post them here.

RE: 85- M1009 MISSING STARTER & BOTH ALT.S CONVERT TO
get the alternator from odiron, its a standard 12v alternator 100amp, it just has an isolated ground.
I dont know that i'd trust 4bolts, i'd run a few weld beads along the joints as well. I have a class V on mine that is run through the bumper and took the place of the pintle, so i just have a combination pintle/ball on my hitch.
shiny trans fluid? not good. did you see any junk in the bottom of the pan when you pulled it?
I love having a drain plug in mine, makes for no mess when its time to service the trans.
its the std. large frame 100amp alternator gm used in the same year civilian vehicles. any alternator shop will have one on the shelf, although i would just get one from odiron since it will have the correct pulley for your application.
yeah, but I'm used to large heavy trucks that you have to rifle through the first three gears anyways.
I usually shift near 2500. just because i like to hear the whistle.

starting in first is a good idea, for the sole reason that if you have a sprag transfer case (not airshift) then you must put it in 1st after reverse or you will fry the sprag.
