M1009 - 65,XXX miles.
The last couple times I've driven it on extended excursions (30 + miles), the coolant has tried to get hot. If I keep it around 55-60mph, the temp hangs out at ~195f. Above that and it starts rapidly climbing. I never continued testing to...
Maybe you don't. But the fact is, with the software on this board, "Administrator" accounts all have the ability to read PM's. In some versions of this software, Mods can be given that ability as well.
Fact.
I've always used a shop rag. You slip it behind the handle, and work it back and forth till it hooks on the clip. Then pull out. Hard to explain, but once you see it done it makes perfect sense.
What year Suburban? The only difference I've ever heard of is ring-gear size. But then they aren't really 10-bolts. They still have 10 bolts, but they are not a "10 Bolt", if that makes any sense.
I was talking about 10 bolts specifically. However, I change the gear oil in my other trucks as well. My 01 Dodge Ram has ~15,000 miles and ~1 year with only an RTV seal. No leaks. My 02 Dodge Ram has ~11,000 miles and ~2 years with only an RTV seal. No leaks.
I'm not sure what I'm doing...
Then you're doing it wrong. I'm an offroader. I change my gear oil at least 4-5 times a year (due to water crossings, etc). I've never ever used a gasket, and I've never ever had a leak. There are a few things you might be doing wrong. Too much RTV, not enough RTV. Are you 'circling' the...
My wife works for a 'wrap' shop. I've been trying to talk them into doing that for my 1009. They can do it, but even at cost, its probably a little over a $1000. Plus, they aren't real sure how well it would stick to CARC long term, even though mine is pretty fresh.
Well, took her for a spin today. No leaks! Looks like I did it!
Also replaced the output shaft seal on the NP208. It's been leaking since I bought it from GL last year. Since replacing the bearings/seals was so easy, I figured I'd tackle it. It literally took me 30 minutes, including a...
One more thing, since you already have the drum off, now is a good time to inspect/replace brake shoes. It's very easy to do when the axles are out. A lot more room to get around all those darn springs!
Completed today on my M1009. I was out last weekend scouting water holes for dove season coming up. When I got home, I noticed fluid on the inside of the right rear tire. I was sure it was a leaky wheel cylinder until I pulled the drum, and sure enough you could see it was leaking down from...
Aren't Goodyear Wranglers AT/Silent Armor's the standard tire?
Replace your tires.
It really sucks when this happens (had driven the 1009 less than 200 miles) thankfully no damage or injury.
Clinto referenced this post as to why he locked the thread. Nothing in Chris's post could possibly be taken to mean that we are not allowed to discuss fired brass, only that we shouldn't post things in regards to firearms that are or may be considered illegal.
So we can't even talk about fired brass, per Clinto? Talking about fired brass would not excite the ATF in any way, shape, or form.
I must say, I'm a little confused.
