Went to put new belts on yesterday, since I was starting to get a little squeal. Found out that I have some broken bolts on the PS bracket. Arrows at #6 in the image below point to the broken studs. It looks like if I pull all the brackets, I'll be able to get vise grips on them. If not...
Oh, and I'll add - the guys at the station didn't even blink. They don't care if it's military or not. It's just a diesel to them.
One other question, is it already titled and registered? If not, we're gonna have to talk.
Tucson is very similar to Phoenix emissions. You will need an emissions test, which costs $12.25 in Tucson. All they test for is opacity (smoke, I think). They put it on a dyno, stick meters in the exhaust pipes (make sure they extend beyond the bumper or bed), then run it up to 50 or 55mph...

ETA: I think the 10-1 is the TM you're looking for. Its a short, easy read of 550 pages.
=)
I've only driven one once. I'm not sure you want me taking it first. LOL!
I'd love to go for a ride, though. They are really cool trucks! Someday, when I have room, I'll be getting one of my own.
Yes, it matters. One can go on the other, but not vice versa. I can't remember off the top of my head which way though. (EDIT: This only applies if you're replacing one of the alternators with a civilian unit - if the one they rebuilt is isolated ground, it doesn't matter which side it's on)...
Allright! Well it looks to have been the thermostat. I replaced it with a 180* thermo (it looks like a gasser thermostat, but they swear it works the same? If not, and I must get the 'hockey puck' looking thing, please let me know). So far, it's been running dead on the nose 180. I did end...

~21MPG freeway if kept around 55mph
I actually changed all the hoses in October of last year when I first got it. I don't think they are an issue. Water pump? I don't know. I might. But I want to go after one piece at a time. If I replace a bunch of stuff at once, and it's still doing it, I won't know what new part isn't...
Ok. So here's where we sit. I'm thinking it might be the thermostat going bad. I popped the hood and checked all the usual. Fluid a nice green and full. Very clean looking. All hoses in good condition. No leaks evident. To get a feel for what empty vs. pressurized hoses felt like, I gave...
I'll check the heater hoses. But, saying 195 is right, is not correct. It's only 195 IF I keep the speed lower than normal.
This is new, BTW. I used to be able to cruise at 65-70 with no temp issues.
