Ordered the alternator rebuild kit. Will install promptly whenever it arrives.
Started cleaning the half dried oil clumps out of my engine compartment...I thinkit may have been leaking since '86 based on how much of that crud is stuck everywhere.
If it runs as good as it looks I think you probably did pretty well. Keep that salt water off of it though, wouldnt want to see a good truck rust to bits. But for 3500 I think you did good. Now go grab a grease gun the lube order and the rest of the TMs for a little quality time.
Looked at ordering a remanufactured alternator to replace my Gen2 so I can rebuild the original to keep as a spare. Part WIL90014277 if anyone has any experience.
Thanks. Back to square 1.2 I guess. I'm not sure when the last time it was rebuilt was I know I havent rebuilt it in the 4 months I've owned it. I'm looking at this kit for the rebuild.

I'll clean it out when I get off and if that doesnt work I'll grab a new plug in the morning. Is that stud suppossed to be loose though? Also there is a red ring around it that appears to be cracked and broken up if that means anything. Thanks again.

Well after reading this thread and the TM as well as doing a search I still have a question or two and a few opinions I need verified.
I have a GEN2 and voltmeter issue on my M1008. The Gen 2 light doesnt come on like the Gen 1 does and the voltmeter reads zero and doesnt move at all. The fuse...
Just curious... as I know everyone is coming out to wheel that weekend is anyone planning on wrenching on anything (besides what they break)? I'm always looking to learn something new.
Yeah found the sensor out with the jeep... worked for about 2 days... went to the dealership for OEM fixed the issue. Anyways... I think the tool is $20 from napa, its the socket looking thing used for taking apart the hubs and reassembling them to the proper torque. As for the help, depends how...
