Good to know. I'm starting to think I shouldve got a M998 instead as I know more about those than I do on with the CUCV. I'm more than a little behind on the learning curve with these. But I'm learning... The visor does have a sticker but its too cooked to read all that clearly. So looks like...
Looks like I'm the newest member of the death wobble club.... I just can't seem to win with this truck. But I'll start poking around looking at the various parts mentioned and see if I can figure out whats loose and jacked up.
I have no idea sir. The only single/solid front axle vehicle I have ever driven besides my M1008 was a 7 ton and I didnt drive that for long. And let the research begin....
Didn't know I had to lock them in 4 high. Doesnt really matter at this point, the truck is deadlined until further notice. I drove it a couple miles today as I took back roads and the speed was low. On the way home after going through a school zone (25mph) I accellerated to 35-40mph and the...
I'll be there with M1008 and ATV
On a side note... Make sure you guys are running within the letter of the law on these. I dont think there will be any issues as most of us here are pretty responsible. Just a friendly reminder, especially combination vehicles.
Maybe I need to push it a bit harder? I know I didnt get it past 45 the other day. Well in another case of mechanical ADD... while attempting to inspect the vacuum system for the transmission I ended up at the gen 2 alternator. I think I found my Gen 2 light and voltmeter issue. The orange wire...
You may want to look into some of the other modifications specifically for cold weather. Some of the various heaters for the engine, batteries, and fuel if I remember correctly. But you definitely picked a good truck to start with.
Vhyle,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've been reading threads all over the place. Going to look at the vacuum lines when I get a chance and I was also reading the trans filter might be plugged up and causing some issues as well. I'm also looking at a tiny tach which should tell me something about...
I would think getting the hot engine away from the dry grass would be the smarter plan... A lift might be smarter? I always kind of figured the 6.2 sounded like a diesel engine because it was a diesel engine. Maybe you should turbo it so you get the whine like a 6bt? Or just for sake of common...
Using the advice of another member I got the rear driverside unstuck... sort of. it moves freely back and foth about an 1/8th of a turn before I see the drive shaft start moving, is that normal? or should it spin like the passengerside wheel does? I still have it up on jack stands at the moment...
I'd be up for it. I'm trying to line up a house sitter so I can stay the whole time. Plus the GF would like to go. I might be able to pitch in a few things for a cook out one night.
I'm at my wits end with this brake issue... Yes there does appear to be some sort of leak on the front side of the stuck wheel, not sure if that was my desperate pumping of the brake in an attempt at fixing something. The wheel on the other has some fluid on the back of it but it still spins...
Figured out the driverside rear wheel is stuck... will try to figure out how to unstick it. I jacked up the rear end and the passenger side wheel spins freely... the driverside is definitely not moving anymore.
