What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Doghead relay mod, checked fuses, swapped foltmeter and gen 2 relays to see if that may be part of my problem, its not. Will be checking the parking brake later today, theres a lot of rust in the adjustment section. Still hunting electrical gremlins and leaks...

yeah but they're not open at the moment. I may just take the 12 ton bottle jack off the shop press and put it under there so I can do this parking brake thing and hope it works.

    2013 Haspin Discussion Thread

I've got no clue sir, I don't own a water buffalo or a 275 gal tote, but I did sleep in a holiday inn express last night. Ok no I didn't, I tried adjusting the parking brake on the M1008 and found out my jack is DOA... so off to walmart for a new jack or maybe some hydrolic fluid and hope it...

    2013 Haspin Discussion Thread

I wonder if you could fill it from the water buffalo... You can usually get decent pressure if the tank is at least 2' off the ground. Could always put a 275 gal tote in the back of one of the cargo trucks with a short hose and you should get enough pressure to fill a water balloon if I remember...

    Stryker's, M923a1.

I think the red can is probably Ether, you can get it at the big truck stops or I think NAPA. Its part of a cold weather starting system, should be part outlined in the -10 manual. As for cranking that particular cummins is known for not liking cold weather as well. Looks like a great truck, I'd...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to pull the TM. I was told that the reason it didn't have an issue with reverse was because reverse was a lower gear so it wouldn't have as much preceived resistance going in reverse as it would forward. But I will definitely take a look at the cable as soon as I can.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Apparently I have a stuck caliper or drum on one of my wheels.... I want to say driverside front. Tried to drive it the other day put it in gear, didnt roll forward freely. Felt like the parking brake was on... but I had already released the parkimg brake... rolled backwards just fine, but it...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Coolant tank was replaced! I know nothing cool, but its a small victory for me not to have a large puddle of antifreeze hanging around. Replaced the cotter pins on my shackles. I'll be cleaning the foam insulation off the bed when I get home and attempting to clean the green scum off my back...

    2013 Haspin Discussion Thread

Sparky, I may be interested depending on the details, are they looking for actual toys or a monitary donation? I usually donate directly to my local USMCR unit. I'm always a little leery of dropping off toys or money for donation to someone I don't know that isn't wearing the same uniform I...

    2013 Haspin Discussion Thread

Honestly if I never use foam in a spray can again it will be too soon. One of the cans basically exploded one day right at the nozzle. It got in around my safety glasses and I was just about blind for an hour or so its really hard to wash out.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Bled the fuel filter, coolant tank repair attempt number 1 failed, put the dashboard back together, voltmeter still not working, looks like I could use a new grille and light bezel, ordered more parts.... shopping for a civi hitch reciever.

Spring Dust Off Anderson, Indiana who's going?

I'll try to bring some friends along too. I'm not going to lie, I want to climb around on some of the stuff they have and take a tour around there. Maybe I'll get some inspiration for the next project or two. I really need to get a civy drop hitch on the M1008 to pull some trailers. I may be...

Spring Dust Off Anderson, Indiana who's going?

I'll be there as well with the M1008 (hopefully), not sure if I'll be camping though. I've been waiting for this to show up. Also a note to all... don't be afraid to drive down and around the back of the museum. I didn't know I could last time and had some poor coms. But I actually know what I'm...

New here, thinking about buying an M1009

Do you have tools? That would be my first question. I'm still trying to figure out the electrical system, its a little different to say the least. Remember these trucks dont come standard with AC, radio/stereo, and engine noise is definitely louder than a civi vehicle. You may want to put more...

    2013 Haspin Discussion Thread

I was just curious because I had heard some people filling in the gap in the CUCV roofs to add a little insulation and noise reduction and it had bowed out a few spots. But pretty clever idea in some of the "dead space" in the body under the truck.

Tplane37, Thats not too bad of an idea, but I have to ask have you had any issues with the expanding foam pressing out the sides of whatever cavity its filling?
