not argueing it was just a saying used in the auto industry all cars run on used parts:roll:i would rather hear all the input good and bad before making up ones mind on what cable to use it is a serious matter.
i hear that i am putting a new one on mine i'm just waiting on them to get back to me on the shipping.you always have to leave a safety factor when winching .you should never be using it to its rating
the bell housing and mounts should work but thats about it i would stay away from computer controlled units like the in offroad vehicles .water and electronics dont get along very good:roll:
looks like a 2000 series pretty much same trans as the 1000 but heavier duty and still computer controlled and a pita to wire in to the vehicle i think they are considerably lnger than the stock deuce trans to so you will have to move the transfer case back to fit it in there
i would go air electric brakes dont seem to hold up to good.actuators go bad from sitting .air is more reliable and has better stopping power.i understand your concern about not being able to tow it behind a deully but i wouldnt want to be pulling something heavy on a high trailer like that...
cold weather can open up a bad connection in the starter soloniod or starter .but i would test the batteries first and clean battery connections .then look at the ground cable where it attaches to the frame to be sure something didnt happen to it in the process of changing the bats:roll:
i wouldnt want to run a bigger diameter cable in there anyway since you wouldnt be able to put as much on there i find i need most of it more often than not
the ldt might run good but its no cummins.im sure someone makes a flywheel for it but you need to know what you are looking for .the ldt uses a sae 3 but it uses a sae 2 adapter to go to the 3053 -3052 trans used it the deuce .pics pics pics pics i wouild like to see what you are working with...
we need a table of capacity for the different type of cables .does anyone know how much a stock cable with the chain and end weighs? i'm just waiting for them to get back to me on shipping cost so i can order mine:roll:
pics go a long way here cummins in the dodge is a different bolt pattern than it is in a medium duty truck which cummins pattern is it the one on the medium duty is the same as the deuce the other is not .you could make anything fit anything but what trans is it ?will it be worth it is it to...
no just wondered about it a cable thats been used out of the weather and at 1/10 its capacity for a year or two and has twice the rating of the cable used on the deuce:?:plus they are oiled and maintained better than anyother cable i know of .i agree about using new cable but if you can get...
how about getting used elevator cable they have to change it after x amount of hours and its ussually like 500ft or more i have heard of some places letting it go for scrape price.i thought it is the best grade cable you can get same as lifting cable used on cranes .has anyone used it and how...
