I have no proof for any of this but it seems to me that GL is doing the best they can with what they have. The people at the yards are quite helpful and I have gotten outstanding support from them online and via the phone. Sure they advertize they are in business and anyone who is knows more...
Adam:
10,000 Thanks I know the driveway at home is waiting for this and will relive your yard and wife I just have to get a flight home and a day the wife doesn't have pegged for me fixing things or going to visit someone. I will most likely head down some night and arrive early morning so I...
I love M52's and getting a multifuel over a gasser is a good find. I still have to get more time into my gasser but I did love driving it home. Take a credit card with a big credit line cause driving it home will take lots of diesel and coffee.
Getting the A frame up
I think a quality come along would do the job we used two to stablilze the fifth wheel here in this shot but my real desire is for a 4K rough terrain forklift to do the lifting.
See the ease this forklift did in the same job Rizzo had to rig to do
Garbee has chains? I knew he had a pig roaster are there more available?
We ran the chains on all our dueces at Fort Devens, MA and the key to making them really function in snow is a good heavy secondary load. Chains on the front really help too but they seemed to come loose easier.
Wow that is such a bummer about the fan. I know we were all pulling for you and initially it was a good to go trip. My recovery trips always stop about 15 minutes after leaving and I go over everything at the unit maintenance level. It has helped me find little loose things like the fan you...
I like the duece winch because of the size of the cable and the length no electric will come close. It does take a bit to operate the duece winch and I can see the obvious reason one with the ease of operation.
I would not try to winch the duece out of any bad sticks with an electric but if...
Awesome breaking ice in the Jersey Pines. These remind me of the trip we took and having Nick graciously pull me and the M1009 out of hood deep water where I got high centered.
Thanks for the pictures and make sure you let all of us know the next time you are headed out to the Pines.
These engines come with both points and electronic ignition what does yours have and if it was rebuilt in the 90's do you think they upgraded the ignition to breakerless?
I thought that towbar looked unique in the night shots that is so cool where did you get it? Clutch pedal adjustment is a big issue in all the motorpools that still have trucks with manual transmissions. Glad you got it back together and posted the pictures. Amazing what friction in the wrong...
RE: More Picts of the Navy MWR truck
The amazing thing about it is the whole outer skin is Stainless Steel. I did not get to see it pull the hills but the little four banger diesel seems quite small.
This truck is one of the more gaudy trucks I have ever seen and thoughs of it being a Philippino Jeepney whose roots were from WW II Jeeps left there by our Army and Marines. It took as many pictures as I could of it and thought you would enjoy seeing it too. I think it has more horse power on...
Very nice
I built a CBC for my M101 but it is all wood with an big aluminum door. I just used the steel tarp loops for the support and screwed and bolted everything to them and the deck. There are pictures of it in my album.
RE: 5 ton woe
Man that truck looks drivable to me I would go down with my credit card and some tools and hope the GL guys would give you a jump start with their forklift or another running truck. Do the collector plate thing and drink a lot of coffee get it home and you will be ahead on the...
I am glad you are OK my son Noah stopped to avoid a multiple car pile up on a Baltimore parkway and a lady in a minivan on a cell phone butt smacked him in the M1009. Ruined the reciever hitch and bumper and accually bent the right rear frame rail just a smiddgen.
Her insurance paid but the...
