I have this happen all the time. I use air wrenches so this is what I do. The outer nut should be 1 1/2 inch. Stick a closed end wrench through the bud hole over the nut, then I put my air wrench on the end of the stud and tighten it back up, put your pb blaster on the thread and run the stud...
I've heard things about marvel oil. I had a friend who would add some once in a while when he charged the air in his trailers. Said he never replaced a break valve on a trailer he owned while doing that.

I can only speak about my own experience, but I've added and used it in every diesel I've ever owned. When we were running trucks over the road if we suspected a injector getting dirty we'd add it and it straightened it up every time.

I can see this is a truck I'll have to watch for on the auctions, thanks for posting all about it. That drive shaft issue is a problem though in driving it home. What a pain.
