    'Pin-on' 10,000lb front winch

Yeah...previous owners can sorta suck now and then. I have a 75' piece of 1/2" cable and the way it's supposed to be done is curling the cable back around, wrapping it around a thimble at the end...THEN THREE CABLE CLAMPS space evenly apart. Mine are about 4-6" apart and I've pulled like ****...

    'Pin-on' 10,000lb front winch

Oh, the deuces right front fender at the turn signal got folded down just a little but that will straighten up and so far...looks to be the only damage. [thumbzup] I know... :cookoo:

    'Pin-on' 10,000lb front winch

Thanks G! I'll keep it in mind! Quoting Gimp: "I always liked your "real world" tests, should be interesting." Well, the winch project did indeed get a good test last night. I hadn’t even ever tried the front hydraulic system on the truck but hoped it worked and had all the specs...

    'Pin-on' 10,000lb front winch

Update: About 90% done and have a few pics. Mounting plates are all machined welded and painted. Bumper had two 1-1/8" hole punched through it to secure the lower winch mounts. Lower winch mounts ended up being unmolested (finally a part I didn't have to remachine...) class one 3 pt hitch...

    Looking for a little advice

That winch is worth the asking price to some Mog people...if it works. Prolly worth half the price in parts. Be a neat resto project! They bring decent money cleaned up!

    395 mounting issues... help

I like the look of the 395's but not that large difference in track widths. I thought maybe using the original single style wheels (non dual able for rear) it would bring the front out a couple inches and the rears in a couple inches. Hmmm...for that matter maybe just run all of them and flip...

    M-35 Air Starter

We have two Pratt & Whitney R2800 'Double Wasp' twin row, 18 cylinder radials where I work and I'm the guy that takes car of them...among other duties. We get some guy in now and then that tell stories of them from way back. Boy do they curse cold weather and 'shotgun' starters. If you didn't...

    395 mounting issues... help

I had a problem one time with an 1100x 16 when running a 900x16 tube in it so I went up to larger tubes so the tube wouldn't be inflated to an extreme amount just for it's everyday life. I would definitely recommend saving the couple of bucks to run the larger tube than ...making due... with...

    Machine tool coolant???

Excellent, thanks fellas! Thought I could rescue that but looks like it the current owners trouble to dispose of.

    M-35 Air Starter

I put a 12V starter on my 1160 CAT and run it off of 24V and it sounds like an air starter. Fires that CAT in a jiffy too. HA!

    Deuce U-joint

that should be the correct one and seeing how the duece doesn't have a pillow block and the one third listed M35 U joint has the two bolt flange on it, 1500 series which are ONLY on the driveshaft going from the t-case to the front tandem...you should be okay ordering that 570.... part. btw...

    Machine tool coolant???

I *may* have access to 300 - 400 gallons of machining coolant from a CNC machine shop. I used to work there and they used Castrol oil based coolants in certain machines. Anyone ever do anything with this type oil? I've seen different things about cutting the the 'other than diesel oil' with...

    Level Wind on Deuce Winch?

There is more to the five ton level wind than just the arched bridge and trolley. Before the cable gets to that...there is a tensioner that centers the pull...AND before that...the cable must pull past the large horizontal roller of the five tons substantial fairlead. THESE ALL must be used in...

    underpowered winch?

I also believe that the proper usage of the deuce winch on the truck for extracting itself states to have the truck in gear so that it has tires turning to help.

    11.00x24" wheel and tire value?

Try a company called Unishippers. I use them for ALL my pallet shipping. Rates are probably better than one would think. Something that really helps pricing is if you're able to ship business to business and/or dock to dock. Lot of times I ship from a business with a lift truck so no lift...

    'Pin-on' 10,000lb front winch

Hydraulics are very common on the 406/416 trucks. Because mine originally had a front dozer blade and rear backhoe, yeah...it has hydraulics...originally two separate systems. I pulled the rear system off but the front system has an engine driven hydraulic pump and tank up front under the...

    underpowered winch?

You're right, these winches are amazing. I've winched a LOT with the 10,000lb winches and the 20,000lb winches and can hardly say enough good about them! [thumbzup] 5 ton winch will fit a deuce but it's a bit of work as they're larger and usually have the drive on the wrong side.

    Spicer 3053

The 3052 also has a lower 1st gear ratio and I believe reverse ratio too. 3053B, ah yes...the mythical taller overdrive. You want a good overdrive, M35TOM and his NEW kits will be the way to go.
