Trango, it's something that a lot of British Trucks have. The driver can see the trailer, can steer it quickly to adjust the angle of the trailer and isn't working by remote and by feel over his shoulder through some one else as a ground guide. There's a PS magazine that even talks about it and...
Bjorn, doesn't the allowed angle really depend on the actual angle? those front mounted hooks can't be used for lifting because they're shaped wrong, they can only be used for a front harness for forwards towing. Lifting would be accomplished by straps or chains around the frame rails on that...
Couldn't you make one with an old bottle jack and some tubing that matches the injector? Metal mounting plate, reservoir for the diesel, and a pressure gauge.
I really think it's a matter of the military gear being very conservatively rated. Look at the size of the trucks for that matter. Frames and everything else. When I was first looking at my 5 ton I showed the pictures to a co-worker that did truck repair on the side and he was oohing and ahing...
Doesn't it depend on the way you lay the cable. In some cases, the rigging shows the final cable attached to the block which will double it's load. Shouldn't each connecting point be one equivalent part of the rig?
This load calculator has me thinking about this.
The load is divided by the...
Ah, TM 5-725 is online

Broken up by chapter.
Seems like I have this TM at home too. Need to dig it up.
actually, isn't the cable at a lower rating as well along each strand? The mounting point for the block is going to depend on the rigging as well I think. Rig back to a block and sure, it'll be double. Rig to the clevis of your truck and it'll be lower forces.
Hmm, would the cable along each...
They're designed for it. When on touch and go terrain, you can start out in low second and be quite speedy on the uptake, then get to 5th low, reach down, push in the clutch, then pull the low range lever up and then throw it into 3rd or 4th fairly easily and go from there.
This is an argument for having accessories not on the main accessory switch or a separate switch for the fuel pump. How long could this be an issue? After all, one of the First Parade items..Oops (Dang britspeak), PM Checks before driving is to run the fuel pump and bleed the fuel filters. How...
So do we have any consensus for what a snatch block needs to be rated at for safe recovery work of a deuce or similar with the 10,000 lb winch? Clearly the shear pin is going to limit the load on the winch cable and PTO system, but what about the block themselves.
So far the only ones that I've found that aren't $400 or more are these warn numbers:

Seems like they'd work pretty well to with the anchor point going into a celvis on the truck's bumper.
Oh, according to this calculator...
Personally, I'd pad the bejezus out of that grab bar. Get a good hard run through some bumpy stuff and your passenger will leave indentations with their hands. Work on the dash area under there and not clear the grab bar and it'll leave indentations in you if you thump your head (or if you're in...
