Ouverson Lock outs HEAVY DUTY SEALED 575 bucks!!

If one of you makes one of these, I'd bet you could make more and sell them to us regularly. I know I'd start budgeting for one.

    Engineering for fording capabilities

Bjorn, but water has a much higher capacity for heat even if warmer than ambient air. So heat is still going to be taken away from the engine in higher quantities. And if it makes a state change, even more heat is taken away as it's now steam.

Andy, Squirtruck/Mark's truck has that box that was part of the design of that model/make of bed. It's actually nice to have additional storage like that. I'm not sure what the specification was, but the drop sides didn't have that.

    Biodiesel in the beginning

B 99 is 1% Diesel fuel. 1600 gallons a year? Wow. That's pretty good. So for a 50 gallon fill up, I add 1/2 a gallon of road Diesel and I'm legal. How are they going to ever prove that.

Yanks call this the BII, Basic Issue Items and Integral Components of the End Item. They're in a manual that's either the Operator's -10 manual or separately the -10HR (Hand Recepit) manual that just lists Basic Issue Items but doens't actually provide what goes with what truck. The -10 Appendix...

The Vinyl tops are original. That top new is ~$700 from GMA cover Corp. They sell to civilians too. M54 5 ton with Winch, Hard Top, 3 Color Camo paint (looks good), 300 hours, drop side, rear Cargo Cover, $10,000 seems good to me. I paid $9,500 for my M813A1 dropside that was without a cover...

    Biodiesel in the beginning

I'd be surprised if they do. There are federal regs already allowing one to make something like 500 gallon of the stuff a year untaxed. :-)

LOW fuel level equals LOW fuel pressure

If below 1/4 tank of fuel, big hills will slosh your fuel to the back of the fuel tank and you will run out on the hill.

I'd argue that when Daimler was sold to Jauguar and Vauxhall went under the beginning of the end was near. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?module=photoshare&type=show&func=viewimage&iid=171&viewkey=

Best Thing You've Found in Your CUCV

One of the guys on the ferret list imported his ferret from the UK and found a live Sterling SMG in his everyone said go drop it off at the local ATF office, the 10 years in jail wasn't worth the headache.

    Volvo NL10

DR, if you think the US cab overs are hairy, you should see some of the older British trucks with their very roomy and open font cabs.

M54-A2C Does this sound a good deal?

Front axle Should be sprag type. Power steering is original I think. Its more or less a scaled up deuce. Bigger, expect 5 mpg or so. It'll haul more and tow more, but it's proportionally slower and more expensive to feed. Big advantage is that you can sit on the ground under it and reach up to...

    White Water Purification Unit

Yep, US of Sam have extra cash to throw around like drunk sailors, so it makes more sense. Besides its not like the Air Force would want to have to source parts for trucks purchased locally from our strongest and longest ally? Daft really. The Germans did make us buy MAN 8x8s for the Pershing...

    Huey and vehicles.

Oh, you served in Ulster? Jim Webster drove Ferrets and Saladins in Ulster. Probably 20 years before your time there, during the troubles, but still. My quick search seems to indicate that the Tactica (Glover Webb?) is built by BAE (used to be Alvis). Jeeze, looking at the BAE Systems Website...

There seem to be a bunch of those US type Cab overs floating around in the UK. Didn't the USAF have them as prime movers over there?

Oh, and an OH-6 of some sort. I'm not a rotor head. I'm sure Bill over at Castle Argghhh could say which model with such and such stick controls.

Well, the first thing that caught my eye was the Bedford MJ, not as pretty as the TJs and Humber 1 Tons (or the Green Goddess), but still a nice looking truck. As much as I like my deuce, I want an MJ with an Atlas on the back. There's also something that looks like an RG-31, but isn't. Perhaps...

IT WORKS!!! M977 Crane with PICTURES!!!

So I'm thinking a custom bed like the one Bjorn had and a 5 ton, two wheel trailer chassis with an M35 drop side bed on it. Or a 2 axle bolster trailer with the same on it. That'll let you carry cargo and still have a shorter truck. What about one of those beds from the air compressor trucks...
