Check that map. Alaska recently passed law to allow you to carry concealed without a license (kind of makes a hell of a lot of sense out away from most heavily inhabited places which are what, two cities in the entire state?). If you wish to obtain a license for reciprocity purposes with other...
This is why it pays to live in a state where you're less likely to get raked over the coals. More often than not down here when I hear of citizens defending themselves with deadly force the closing line of the article is usually "...police do not expect to file charges against the man." Most...
Ever read any A. Conan Doyle? When Holmes told Dr Watson to bring his revolver, it wasn't for target practice. So, you chaps do in fact have a history of just this exact sort of thing under Queen Victoria. Its not so strange, just forgotten. But it was a fairly normal thing for a gentleman to be...
Its getting better here though. Incrementally. Kansas just legislated Concealed Carry and overrode a veto of the state governor to do it. Look at the pretty blue sweeping the country. http://smallestminority.blogspot.com/2006/03/time-to-modify-that-map-again.html
Bernie, probably the best thing to do is include the insurance in the cost of the item as a default. Whenever I've ordered an item, I've expected it to arrive. If it doesn't arrive, or if it arrives damaged, I expect the company I bought it from to make up the error and sort it out with the...
Funny, I was just talking to Ian Hughes about this. He'd like to move to the US as well. I suggested they start a US office of their company and then he'd be set. "I hadn't thought of that..." was his response. :) Hopefully, we'll see a branch of their company over here at some point. It'd be...
Things in the US are less cut and dried. As a rule we're less taxed than you chaps are. For example, vehicle tax is based on ad valorem, which is some fraction of the vehicles value reduced for it's age. I have one vehicle that costs more than $4 for Ad Valorem and it's a 2001 honda. Every thing...
There were 4 of M514s and 3 M390c trailers. We recovered 5 total. Squirt Truck and a friend got the other 3 trailers. Two remaining M390c 2 ton 2 wheel trailers await recovery.
SB27 passed the house and senate. The DMVS/DOT opposed SB28 at the last farking minute because they got confused over...
I've taken photos of the M514 Trailers I saved from the scrap man. They're in the Gallery under my name. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?module=photoshare&func=showimages&fid=114
Better than my dingo. The rear engine cover is not hinged. You need two people to lift it off because it's 1/8" thick armor plate that's about 3'x5' square.
The ferret is about 4.5 tons. The previous owner of the trailer used the trailer to carry his ferret to Rogersville, TN and back, so I believe it can handle the ferret's weight as well. He did it with out brakes on the trailer too!
Thanks! I can't take credit for the Gamma Goat lights. The guy I bought the trailer from added those.
I'm technically supposed to have three marker lights back there, but I suppose I can argue the trailer pre-dates that regulation just based on the HammerBlow axles. I thought about mounting...
The trailer is some no-name trailer that has a set of UTG axles with electric brakes. The data plate is missing so I have no real clue as to the exact load of the trailer, but the axles were made by one of the companies that Cequent took over decades ago (Hammerblow). Dexter's axles/seals match...
As I stated above, I was running more or less full tilt, average speed for the whole trip was 34 mph, that's stopped and running time. When I was actually only running I was averaging around 47-50mph, with short blitzes to 55mph. I noticed that on the long climb up I77 past Bjorn's neck of the...
So this is the combination that I drove up. I figure the trailer was around a ton and a half. The dingo is another 3.5 tonnes, so I was probably around 12,000 lbs towed. I loaded the Dingo pretty close to the front of the trailer to get the weight centered per Squirt Truck's advice. I had a pair...
Under federal law, you could have a 35,000 lb truck and be legal to drive with out a CDL, you just need a class B or A license to cover the weight. Federal law might give you a pass, but state laws might require that you stop in the weigh stations. I'll keep stopping in the weigh stations...
