there is a check valve in the lift pump on the side of the enigne that can go bad, its not an expensive part but its a PITA to do (I've done mine twice, once due to a bad replacement part )
Oned easy way to fix this would be to put an electric pump back on the frame rail near the tank and...
when you change the filter out, pull the pink wire from the top of the injector pump, that way when you crank air can not get into the IP and cause you grief. Change the fuel filter for sure, they are cheap. For the CDR pull it off and blast it with some carb cleaner to clean out any gunk from...
I just wanted to add, yes the m1009 hydroboost unit is different then the others. All of the truck cucv's use the same part number hydroboost unit, its the same as the civilian K30 hydroboost unit.
I would check the voltage going into the motor, sounds like you have a voltage drop. It could also be the grounds on the motor, the way these motors work is that the two grounds switch to make the motor run at a different speed.
theoretically that should work fine, the hmmwv plugs use a different connector (easy to remedy that) but i dont see any reason that wouldnt work if your running a manual button to activate them (the stock controller wont handle 24volts)
I am looking at buying a 1947 willy's jeep. I was told that the m38 canvas top should fit right on it, can anyone confirm this? I have pics of the jeep in the photo album link in my signature.
24volt starters are better thats a fact, less amp draw (can use smaller wiring) plus they spin faster than a comparible 12volt starter.
The electrical systems of these trucks have nothing to do with how "evolved" the technology was at the time.
They have a split system because it was easier...
This is going to happen very soon in the industry, since you can run smaller wires to carry the flow, auto makers will probably skip 24v and go to 36 or 48volt systems, at those voltages its possible to run the air conditioning off of a electric motor effeciently for instance.
why where you messing with a wire there for the alternators? i think you may have the battery cables on wrong, you should have a ground cable that runs to the front battery negative terminal. Then you have a long cable that has two battery ends on it, you attach the single end to the positive...
might i remind you that unless you raise your exhaust height as well, your asking for a blown engine. the first time you let off of the gas while the tail pipes are under water, you will suck water into the engine and hydrolock it.
