Hmm, Talked to David more tonight. He's proposed a swap of my M813A1 for his M35w/w (both cab and cargo cover) plus $1000 plus 5 spare tires (2 90%, 2 50%, 1 75%), 1 spare fuel tank with, and some parts (dog bones and a few things like that). I'm not sure I need 5 spare tires... :? Hmm.
My...
Bjorn, would you mind posting the circuit diagram for your regulator? I have access to some electronics here at work and being able to fab one of these up myself would be nice. I take it that it's just the top box with the heat sink right?
You could make the back body a hardtop like a mini M109 shop van.
Personally, I like the Canadian HUPs. I think a deuce could be made to have a similar body.
My 5 Ton wasn't there. I don't think Dave had his there either. I figure his is worth more than $5K. But I'm not sure how much more. I'm not looking to be unfair with him either, but I know some deuces have been going for too much. I'm starting to lean towards about $6500 - $7000. Does that...
Its still a 6x6 chassis right? Perhaps a bed from a 2.5 ton dump? Those are shorter aren't they? Otherwise chopping the middle section out of a standard bed would work best I think.
So I've mentioned looking at swapping my 5 ton for a Deuce. I looked at a friends Deuce this past weekend. It's a nice truck. David Schaeffer and his son Joe really seem to know their stuff. The truck is in really good shape. Its a M35 Cargo w the whistler turbo and Multifuel w/W. They've got a...
My M813 continues to have some random power problems on acceleration. The characteristics are that it looses power and becomes gutless for about 5-20 seconds and then gains power again. This is about the time that I hit the 3rd to 4th gear acceleration. Sometimes the RPMs stay up and float for a...
I notice you have a pintle hitch on the front. Is that for pushing trailers around to get them parked where you want? Do you have any bracing under the bumper?
Lower to the ground too, so when you stumble out of the "camper" at 4am to go take a late night wizz, you have less distance to fall when you trip going down the stairs.
Yep. My M813A1 has detroit lockers in the rear. I haven't had the opportunity to see how they work sadly. And I'm already thinking about downgrading to a 2.5 ton.

Put it on a Bolster Trailer. It's a little lower, but the tongue can be extended to accommodate the extra length. Or if you want to gang trailers, use two generator trailer chassis.
Just get what will fit and has a good price. At a certain point you're getting a big battery no matter what. Though, if you do drive off road, you might see if they have a more rugged designed battery. Try batteries Plus first. They specialize so seem to know more.
What Bjorn said. He reccomends a larger breaker and relay because even though you're pulling 20 amps total, you're going to be a bit more at switch on and that could be right at the edge. Going up to the larger rated size helps protect every thing. Now, make sure the wiring can handle 30 amps...
VMMV has two trailers with Compressors on it. Would one of those trailers perhaps be the right compressor for getting this truck right?
