Also keep in mind that in most states only emergency vehicles can run sirens on public streets... i know around here if you run a siren on a POV, and you are not a police officer, its jail time for impersonating.. (firefighters/EMS here can run lights, but no sirens)
the reason the grade 8 bolts keep breaking- grade 8 bolts are very hard, and they dont take any "flex" so when to starter flexes the bolt enough times, it snaps.. the factory bolts on the other hand- allow it to flex some, and not break.. hopefully your Heli-Coil is fine, and the factory bolts...
mixed feelings on that.. I'm glad it didn't get chopped up (you wouldn't have if you had seen it anyways, it still pops your ears when you shut the doors) but I do need to sell it.. It doesn't pull a gooseneck very well with the tool body.. lol
man, that sucks about your axle... but $1k for a set of knuckles?? wow, makes me glad to live out here in redkneck-ville!! that would run you about $200 if you remove them.. $300 if they remove them..
after it got jerked about 10' sideways.. lol but yes.. you did pull me out... If I hadn't been trying to show off (go through it without the front axle locked in) then i wouldnt have been stuck.. lol
I think this time around i will steer clear of those... they wiped out all 4 front wheel bearings.. before i made it home.. but judging from what i found in there, it looked like they were bad before i ever even left for haspin, so i can't blame it all on the mud holes..
Troy- after fording water with your truck, make SURE to pull down your axles and check/re-pack your wheel bearings with grease sooner then later! I did not check mine for about a week after fording (less then 200 miles) and by then it was too late, and could only salvage 2 sets of bearings...
watch GL, they come up for sale every few months.. i love that era of international trucks.. and i would prefer a DT466 (turbo) over a 5.9 in them any day of the week..
i know of the one in carrollton... and the owner will not let go of it, or the other Military trucks he has rotting away in the feilds... I know a couple guys that have tried to get them...
could you point me to the "hopes & dreams" thread for haspin? cause those were the 3 things i needed... lol
plus a passenger west coast mirror "frame" (everything from the door out) i think one off of a M35, M809, and M939 will all 3 work..
I have been clocked at 72mph with my truck on the interstate, but i wouldnt run it that fast long at all.. or you will have tire blowouts.. if you keep it at 50-55 you will see your MPG go up enough to notice it.. i can get 6-7mpg out of my 250 cummins at 50mph, 65-70mph, and i drop to around...
