Pics of 395/85R20
I don't know much about the M35A3 rims except I have never seen them available! I can say that the Michelin XML 395/85R20 tires are a good match to single out the deuce. Good luck with your project. Here are some pictures of the first conversion I did with 395/85R20s.
More Pics
Since all the old pics are gone, I thought I would post some new ones. I recently finished the super single conversion on an M36. Tires are Michelin Pilote 15.5/80/R20 and Rims are Custom Double Beadlocks.
$100 each??
My experience has shown that the value in the wheels/tires is in the location. Buying standard duece wheels/tires is like buying rocks. Most of the cost is in the shipping/handling and the mounting/dismounting.
Personally, I would never consider paying $100 each for deuce rims...
Nice looking fire rig! I like the low profile wetside tank. That front bumper/grill guard is huge!!!! It looks like you have man savers on each side, so I suppose you keep a few boys in the 'hot zone'. Do you ever get this truck off road and stick the nose in a ditch? If so, I got some 46"...
One thing to remember guys: GL is not selling only military vehicles. They handle virtually all NSNs. They could not be expected to know/inspect everything they are selling. If they did that, the prices would really be ridiculous. The onus (sp?) is on the buyer to inspect (like most...
Our fire department recently acquired this tanker truck. It is made by Dodge, has 1200x20 tires and a 5000 gallon tank. Is anybody familiar with these or had the priviledge of driving them in the service?
Kenny-
As SpicerGear described, these double beadlocks are internal. I found a pic and attached it. These thick rubber inserts are used by the Army on all heavy trucks. Jeepers sometimes use large PVC pipe and cut slices off for inserts. O rings are used to make the seal between the two halves.
I was intrigued with the Sarge's comment, so I looked into it. From what I have seen so far, I'm not sure he has his facts straight.
"The accident scenario for all M939 trucks occurs during panic stop situations and is worsened on wet pavement. In panic stop situations the trucks wheels lock...
Tom, glad you are okay. Too bad you weren't driving the duece! That 5ton winch might have plowed the way.
MC, I agree. I'll keep my XMLs over NDCCs anyday.
