Ditto on the connection points. That can make a huge difference.

    Deuce in the snow?

They may have been adequate in their day 50 years ago, but I prefer to use advancements in tire design available today. Must be some reason uncle sam is kissing NDTs goodbye. From my experience, NDT = Non directional travel, i.e. stuck.

    Axle Carnage!

Bomar- The mark is on my nose and the cut between the eyes, but I thought I would spare everyone the pic!

    Axle Carnage!

It was a little surprising to me to see it break off like that. There was no weight (feeder was empty) and the terrain wasn't that severe. Just a little too much speed.

    Axle Carnage!

Kenny- Thanks for the lead. I have found a front axle off a 900 series that I plan to use. Do I just switch the hubs?

    Axle Carnage!

Life is full of little bumps in the road. Sometimes the axle goes snap.

    5 ton Axle Questions

Can the front axle from M939 series be used on a M52A2? I know the brake systems are different, but what about the gears? Are they the same? Do any of the front axles in M939 have lockers? Anybody have leads on lockout hubs or lockers for M939 front axle?

    Wheel questions - super singles

Warren- I'll try to answer what I can. First off, I'm assuming your questions all relate to super singles (XML or G-20) not singles (1100R20). Many more options with singles. Overall, I like them. That's why I now have 6 trucks running super singles.

    Big Dog barks in Bavaria

Thanks Bjorn, that looks closer to what I expected.

    Big Dog barks in Bavaria

Cole- Thanks for the update and the pics. I keep 60 PSI in the XMLs unless we need to air down for additional traction. Your top speed might be more than 61 MPH as tires should be 46", not 42". They are definitely taller than 1100s. With the weight and rolling resistance you lost, I...

    Sound/Heat insulation?

Cole- Glad to hear you are on your way and that everything worked out on the tires. I don't think I ever saw a pic of the super singles though. Can you post one when you get back home?

    Dump Conversion

It Depends The military dumps go a pretty good ways. The angle you actually need depends on what you are dumping. See if this attachment helps.

    Deuce Top Question...

M939 series 5 ton cabs are about 1' wider. Maybe that is what it is for? I'm surprised it says for 2.5 ton, though.

Oshkosh 10X10 PLS equipped for fire

    Yes, bought it through DRMS.

Oshkosh 10X10 PLS equipped for fire

Here are a few pics of the 10x10 with the fire fighting module loaded. It holds 3000 gallons of water and 150 gallons of foam. The pump is 600 GPM. With the pressure it puts out, the water cannon covers nearly 200 feet.

10 lug 2-piece wheel to 6 lug hub adapter

Sounds like a lot of effort to make it work. Why not just use custom 2 piece rims? I have one new set left (mounted with 46" XML tires) if anybody wants them. $395 each

There is not enough room as is. I don't even think 1400s will fit. A few :-) mods required for 1600s
