If you really are serious about super singles...
Let me know. I have one more set mounted with XMLs. You will not find a nicer or cheaper set. The work has been done, they are ready to roll. $395 each.
It looks like someone must really want them since the bid is now $150. I have considered GL might be into some price fixing (since we have no visibility into the other bidders) but I doubt they would worry about messing around on some plastic gas cans. It is all supply and demand.
Now that is how to resurrect a post from the dead! I'm glad to see members using the seach function. Good job Wick. I look forward to some answers too.
1 ton- thanks for the chop. I really like the looks of it. This project needs to happen!
SpicerGear- my first thought was to use the leaf springs idea (see my quote in 1 tons first post above). I'll have to measure to see how close I can get another axle with the leaf springs. I'd like to...
Scrap Iron
I got my 5 ton front axle replacement and picked up the cranes, outriggers and a pair of HEMTT axles. Emm, you were right. The crane is a Grove from the M977. I believe the M985 is similar with a higher rating. Anyone got any experience rebuilding one of these or a source of parts?
Well, I learned a few lessons on this one. I have confirmed what I always thought, "I need a wrecker!". I should have bought Bruce's 900 when I had the chance. It was a real chore dragging the truck home with a loader. I hope to get a new axle this weekend and get to work on an install.
Thanks HRD and 1-ton! Those are all really good ideas. I'm not sure yet which way to go. The M1075 has an air third axle and rear stear on the fifth axle. It is a nice setup. I'm hoping for something simple on the M36 which will improve off-road performance, payload, and stabilitity...
Thanks. I'm interested in adding a crane to 5 ton. I'm gathering some info now and will ask you some questions on a new post. Also, I've been thinking of adding another rear axle to the M36. Another tandem might be the easiest to setup, but I wonder if the truck will ever turn? Could one...
M36
I always thought the M36s were harder to find and therefore more expensive, but I have been very pleased with the M36. It has a reinforced double frame and we have really taken it to the limit and it has responded favorably every time. The main drawback is reduced off-road capability...
Thanks Bjorn. The crane is off an old Hemtt. I was guessing 4,000-5,000 pounds, but I'm hoping you're right with 3,000. You would know!
What about a 5 ton axle weight? Anydody? 2,000-3,000#?
These pounds add up quickly for shipping!
