If there is a bright side to all this, it just goes to show you what can happen when you are away from home on a recovery.
I personally loaded the tow rig. It was top notch and the trailer couldn't have been over a few months old and the load was within the capacity of the outfit. People that...
Glad to hear you've got a plan. All my attempts to find some help in Knoxville failed.
One wrecker should be able to lift the bed if needed.
When you say "I have to get the hitch from Brandon" are you saying he removed the hitch from the trailer before y'all left it? That would surely help...
Adam, I may have some "friend of a friend" contacts ( I though of after I talked to you) in that area but it's too late tonight to do much. I'll call you tomorrow and see if we can at least get it off the road if you haven't worked something out.
They are hauling a M936 wrecker bed on a gooseneck trailer.
Who's the guy running the zip lines in Pigeon Forge? He's the closest I can think of off the top of my head.
I know there are some members in the Knoxville area but can't recall who.
Guys, they're in a bad shape having to leave the trailer on the side of the road.
Honestly, I've welded on MVs a pretty good bit and never pulled the cables. Never had a problem.
It's actually probably better to disconnect the batteries though.
Adam, I wish you had called. I have some contacts in Cookeville. Anyway, looks like you're back on your way.
I'm beginning to think we may should have left the bed where we had it the first time to take some weight off those tires. Oh well, I hope y'all make it home without any more problems.
The chances are very slim. One of the problems is it doesn't pass the vehicle safety standards for the year built. We can get by with older deuces and 5-tons because the standards are different on larger trucks and they are older.
I would imagine they will have the same fate as the M151. You...
I checked the turbo a couple of hundred miles ago but I'll check it again. It just started this the last couple of times I took it out.
I don't know what the EGT will go to when this happens because I let out of it for fear something is fixing to fly apart.
The comments about air in the fuel...
The last couple of times I've been in my deuce, the truck has a noticeable increase in power at high rpms. I mostly notice it going up a slight grade under moderate load. What happens is when the rpms get up around 2400 or so, the turbo will change to a higher pitch (C turbo), the boost will...
There is a standard number of turns but I don't recall it. What I'd do is just get a pyro and go from there. That's the only way to know for sure you're in the safe range while knowing you're getting all you can safely get out of the engine.
I highly doubt anybody has 100% converted a H1. They may cosmetically dress up a H1 to look military but I don't think anybody would do a full conversion. I'm fairly sure it would be cheaper just to buy a real HMMWV.
I don't think any of the parts trucks I mentioned in my previous post are...
If it's not a Marine unit, there's a chance it could be stolen. There are some others floating around that were put together from parts that are legal to own. The parts machines may or may not have a title or can get one though.
