IMO we need to combine all of the insurance threads and sticky it.
vtach, you're new here (welcome!) so you may not have seen the search feature yet. There have been several threads on this with really good info on insurance issues.
I will second Gulfway (I use them too).
RE: winch cable
I was seriously considering it....that stuff is costly though, and you need to spend the money on the cable with the UV protection added (turns it brown), and even then it's recommended to keep it covered up. There are some other concerns about sharp edges and high angle...
Just without the winch, but with the upper and lower brackets (extensions) installed?....I would say it would still be pretty tough (there's tons of bolts holding it all together). I think it would do just fine, just pull it straight out...angles would be tough on the extensions.
RE: winch cable
Thanks CanadaDeuce. I'll be trying to source this inside the U.S. for sure...but the prices will probably be in-line with what you've shown above.
FYI: Here is the OEM cable end: http://www.esmet.com/clevisindustrial.html Part number PD-150-N (or X). Apparently they are...
Hey all,
Where can I get 200' of milspec 6x19 fiber core wire rope for my Gar Wood winch? I've looked around online and not seen too many places that will sell 200' of cable for a decent price...if at all.
Also, where can I get the inner crimp-on end for securing the start of the cable to the...
RE: Lil
Beautiful....love those 14.50s up front and the 11.00's out back. Very nice.
Did yours come with the clearance lights, or did you install them?
Pull the axles and front hubs (and throw them in the cab for safe keeping). Plastic and tape over the (now) open hubs to prevent leaks. Should roll nicely now and allow you to debug the problems in a more suitable location. Plus you don't have to crawl under the truck.
Thanks to Kenny for...
RE: Grill
Yes, that's how I'm mounting the lower stone guard...
What I'm trying to say the lower (on the frame rail) mount for the entire grill...right behind the winch. Is there a spacer between the bracket and the frame on the rear (facing front of truck) bolt hole?
Yes, I know about that part...the bottom little screen. I'm talking about the whole big thing...the "hinge" mounts at the bottom of the entire stone guard, not just the bottom.
I think he's right...I need a 1/4" spacer (washers will do) to make it all work. The hinge piece does not mount...
Guys,
Can I get someone to shoot me a quick snapshot of the lower stone guard mount on a winch truck? This is the lower part with the slot that the stone guard fits in (not the upper mount that pokes out next to the radiator).
I think I may be missing a part (or a spacer) on my winch install...
Cool! How did the XLs compare to the NDCCs offroad?
I can't wait to get mine on...still getting the rims the right color (Tan) first. :) If I could get some dry weather, I'll be done soon.
