The antenna you are using is too long for a CB, and subtracting a section makes it too short. With 3 sections, it is good at 22MHz, and as we know CB is 27MHz. You will get a high SWR which will cause heating of the final RF power amplifier stage in the CB radio. All is not...
RE: Great deal on a back saver for your duece
I noticed and read the manual for the crane. Each boom extension length has a weight limit, I see the highest is 1000, then looks like 700.. what are the next two ratings, when the boom is extended fully and almost fully?
Of course it will still be important, especially when conditions are very very bad. But they just decided it's not the only centerpiece any more.
The most likely reason the FCC did this is that basically the rest of the world (the ITU anyway) has discontinued (officially) the use of the morse code. The USA ham radio operators were about the only people left for whom it was required. I do not beieve it is a requirement for military or the...
I just took the general test.. 'pah!' is all I can say. but it's easy for me because.. by the same token, I would not go pulling the engine apart on the deuce!

QRZ.com has practice tests. look on the left side of the page, and scroll down to the section on practice tests.
First master the "Technician" test for the VHF (RT524, PRC-77, PRC-25, RT246, RT68, PRC-68 etc) frequencies if you do not have a license.
Then the "General" test for the HF...

RE: Weekend from hot place
-That- is a story! Thanks very much for sharing it! Hope the fellow's thumb and your truck are better soon. I learnt the broken finger thing the hard way, fortunately it was not actually broken but it was very painful for a few days.
RE: what effect does a leaking air comp. have on the engines
I notice less than 100RPM difference between the time the compressor is 'on' and 'off'.
No way to tell hot/cold, since the thing idles quite different when cold started and after coming to temperature. One thing I have noticed...
there was one, I believe, at the army surplus store in Gran Prarie TX, don't know the store name or if it is still there. Maybe someone knows the store? I can't seem to find it online in yellow pages or what..

The sequence should be:
1. apply power to the solenoid
2. solenoid engages, shoving the gears into place and making the big connection to the starter motor itself
3. starter motor turns engine
you can try this:
attach an analog voltmeter to the high amperage connection between the solenoid and...
If you have a solid piece of steel bar stock like 1.5" diameter by 5 or 6 FT long, and a roll around floor jack, you can place the bar under the axle so it sticks out behind the axle about 1 FT, and put a wood or metal block or plate under it. Then place the long end of the bar, now sticking out...
