RE: Finished product....
Nice work. Good idea on the notches for the tabs on the cap. My thought was it wouldn't take much to tap them over and untwist the cap. Of course, now that I think about it, even if it was loose, it still wouldn't be able to be removed.
If you can't come up with a used one, you could always have one built.
I can give you the contact info of a great place near me if you get to that point.
Interesting.... I never knew a dropside with a winch was such a rare bird. Wonder why that is? Always learning something here.
Here is my '71 M35A2C W/W. Although it didn't start out that way. It was just your average M35 WO/W. I still have the originall data plate in it from when uncle sam...
Looks good Bjorn! Is black the color that was used for lettering and stars when the truck was new? I thought everything from that era was stenciled in lusterless white. Maybe both were?
Were you able to find more of the original markings in other locations?
You're doing the right thing by keeping them. A good bodyman can make them look new again reasonably cheap, and a set of hinge bushings will make them operate like new also.
If it were me, I would repair the doors you have on the truck if they are just dented. They don't look to be rusty from what I can see. Any replacement steel you get is not going to be as good as the original, unless you get OEM. The foreign made panels are lighter gauge steel and you will have...
And with a 1009's 308 gearing, you'll overheat the poor 6.2L when you start lugging the engine on a grade. Not to mention holding the set-up under control going down a grade or any sudden stop. M105's are seriously HEAVY, even empty!
Thanks guys. Patrick, this is the breaker I have, a standard military one. It came off of my parts duece. Are these of the magnetic type?
So it would be ok to power both lights from a single power lead that is split at the switches? Electronics is not my specialty, obviously....
What is the current draw for a standard 24v spotlight like those found on bridge trucks, wreckers, etc? I'm wiring in 2 of them on my m35. I would like to run both of them from the same power lead, different switches. I should probably wire in a breaker too? I have an extra 15 amp breaker I can...
I had my alternators professionally rebuilt from a reputable starter/alternator shop. I ran the truck a few times and they worked great. About a week later I went out to the garage and the #2 gen light was dimly glowing and the key wasn't even in the ignition. It stay on when the engine was...
