Why does the factory wireing pull 12v.from rear batt.neg.instead of front batt.pos.When both are 12v.? The reason I ask is I just rewired my 12v.power junction and glowplug solenoid from front batt.12v.pos.

Today on the 86 1009 I added 140 amp circuit breaker for 12volt.1/0 gauge to breaker 1/0 from breaker to a 1/0ga.to 8ga. junction box,then 1 oversize 8ga.to 12v.and 1 8ga.to glowplug solenoid.The 85 1009 patiently waits for me to get 86 squared away.

With my 86 1009 I usually keep it below 3K rpms,right around 60 mph by GPS,4.56 gears and 33"tires.I checked mpg recently as was surprised to get 16.8 mpg.My 85 still has 308s and gets driven up to 80 mph sometimes.

This am on the 86 1009 swapped in 60G glows and did compression check on all cylinders,425-435 per cylinder! Today on the 86 1009.LMC HD headlight harness and Hella #003427291 headlights.Also added a 4 ga.ground cable from core-support to frame.

So I don't have a coolant temp. gauge,but I do have a handy thermostat operation verification gauge.LOL

Until the thermo opens there is no flow thru radiator,coolant just circulates around block,thats why we have that bypass hose also.

Mine seems to work fine,I start it it runs up to 190,then thermo opens and drops to 175-180 at cruising speed.At slow speeds it reads a bit cooler.
