Come on Gimpy, make the trip. I've got a couple of items that need to be picked up. ;-)
If I had the time I'd take the tractor/trailer down there and come back loaded.
The hyd "something" is a hyd pump. The shaft goes from the pump to the PTO. The PTO is what drives the pump to make hyd pressure. The PTO is driven by a gear inside the trans it's bolted to.
There won't be a cable going to the pump itself. On the stock setup, one cable goes to the PTO (to...
Gimpy, the only problem with that is the PTO output faces the rear on the M939 trucks so there will be no direct route.
Troy, you can not directly couple a shaft drive winch to a hyd pump. They are two completely different kind of drives. Your only options are either to mount a hyd motor on the...
No laws are coming up in TN that affects MVs that I know of. I just see it happening in other states and it's just a matter of time ,unless something changes, before we are dealing with it here. I just like to be proactive.
I mainly started this thread to see what the comments and ideas would...
Personally they aren't worth over about $400 to me. I guess they are worth a lot more if you want a military trailer to go with your MV but once you start getting close to $1K you can buy a civi trailer that's a lot more useful for the same money.
I don't know how your state does things but I live in TN and regularly buy items in AL. GL charges me AL sales tax which is a lower rate than TN. When I title the vehicle in TN I don't have to pay the total tax again but I do have to make up the difference in the AL and TN rates.
Buying a truck...
GVWR aside, in TN a deuce is rated for 46,000lbs if you go by axle weight allowed . You still can't exceed your GVWR though unless the truck is modified. There is a process to modify a truck to increase the GVWR but it's not something somebody can do in their own driveway.
PB, You may be right. I just look at some of the other organizations (like the NRA) that fight on the national level and the state level. Gun ownership is much bigger than the MV ownership though. There may not be enough MV people to support it on a all 50 state level.
It just seems if my state...
I would assume this rig is only for moving the log loader. You're not going to want to put very much weight in the cargo bed or you'll be popping wheelies with that frame stretched like that.
As I said in my original post, it seems all the MVPA is concerned with is parades and such. They are good at what they do but they could care less about the average SS member driving his CUCV as a daily driver or using their deuce to haul something.. Just look at what they did in WI. Don't get...
After reading all the recent threads of states cracking down on MV title and registration, we all need to band together somehow to fight these laws. I have nothing against the MVPA personally but they seem mostly only concerned about parades and such.
I don't know what the answer is but us SS...
I have everything you need except the PTO and pump listed in the classifieds- http://www.steelsoldiers.com/parts-sale/85932-m939-series-hyd-front-winch-1-000-a.html
The PTO and pump can be found on the civilian market. The hyd pump is a 14 GPM Vickers vane pump.
I frequently drive by the Western Express truck driver training center. There's always a huge number of people waiting outside to get trained for a truck driving job. They must have a huge turnover to be training that many people.
We are in the machinery moving business and constantly unload...
Was the engine just vibrating or knocking also?
Pull off the turbo pipe going to the intake. If there is no oil in there, you have an internal problem. If it's just a little damp in the pipe you're ok (sometimes turbos will have a little normal seepage) but if there is quite a bit of oil in...
