I did not try an Ace store, but went to a Lowes down here. The tools they had were no ware near the military stuff. Good for the 30 foot rule. The mattocks I looked at were on the "thin" side and were made in India. All the shovels had plastic handles, just not right.
I think tomorrow I will dig...
Thanks gimpyrobb
Also, on my offer to send any one who gets a mattock from me a 1/2 inch stencil, if you do not want your truck number on the tools, I can also make a stencil of your name.
Thanks.

I just put in the classifieds, that I have some mattocks for sell that go on your pioneer rack. I am selling them for about the same price as the cheap, made in India ones I just saw at Lowes. These mattocks are twice as heavy duty as the ones I looked at....plus they came from a Marine base...
Over did it yesterday in the heat.....be careful!
I went back to our small farm this morning, I was so out of it yesterday, every door was open and all the feed cans were open, just was not thinking right. I always douple check every thing before I depart the farm. Might be Gods way of telling...

I spent most of my time in the Marines as a Crash Crewman. The first truck I got my licence on was the M530C. I have a 1972 M530C, and two WWII FFN-3 crash trucks (M3-4, International, 1 1/2 ton, 4x4 with winch).
Good news is I have some extra M530 stuff....bad news is I am in the middle of...
A couple of years ago, I put a bid in on 11 M105 trailers, just hoping to get one for my collection. My bid was around $110 on each one....I won 10 of the 11!!!..not good. I ended up keeping the best one and later sold the other 9 to a dealer for what I paid for them. Good news is he let me...
Thanks, but I will pass on that.....not in a rush, The halftrack is now setting in a friends barn...to many halftrack collectors in PA. for it to be setting up there...might just get a frame back ;)

Does any one know of a truck running empty back to the east coast? I have a M2 half track in Nabraska that I need moved to North Carolina. The M2 should wieght in around 16000 to 19000 pounds, as it does have complete armor. It runs so loading should not be a problem, and the rancher has a...
Chris
Yes, it was.
I hope you are in no big rush, as the Bride and I are also in the middle of buying and selling a house.
I will try to get back up there in a couple of weeks.
Also, the hard cab truck had better winch cable than the one that I am after.

Years ago, White Owl Parts company brought in a bunch of rebuilt M37 motors. They started at about $600 each, as time went on, and the supply went down, the price went up. I got the last one for $1100, and that was about 15 years ago.
For $2000, I think you did ok.
Thanks for saving our history...
First, they are big...
The guy has two. I did not have that much time today to look them over, but I plan on going up again with a camera.
The truck that I might be after is a M543, with what looks like a brand new multi fuel motor in it. The truck looked very complete. Had the front and rear...
The Bride and I will be moving into our new house at that time, so I will not make it.
**Any way I could donate some NOS "goodies" for any riffles or contests? Just let me know, and I will get a CARE package down range.
Not as lean, not as mean, but still a Marine. Frank

I am thinking of going to my friends house on Monday and looking them over.
The down side, we let my father in law borrow our camera last night. I will try to get it back today beofre he breaks it or as he does with all his tools leaves it out in the rain.
Maybe he will give me a better...
RE: wrecker
Thanks for the replys! The truck must be the M543, I have seen the wreakers before, but just not paid any attention to them. I would have remembered seeing a 5th wheel, and so, they must be the M543.
I am thinking of going up on Monday and looking the trucks over.
Thanks again...
I was talking to a friend today about a couple of wreckers coming up on the GL sells. He also buys some trucks, mainly 5 tons. He says he has two 5 ton wreckers in his lot, they both have muti fuel motors. He does not know what kind they are. The only thing he remembers is they have muti fuel...
