AB-1386/U Quick Erect Antenna Mast on a HMMWV

all the ones I have seen that are not functionally damaged in some way were very few between and fairly costly. If you do find a good one, best to get it when you can. There were also some telescoping masts used for lighting. These are not any taller, more like 20 FT, but are mugh larger...

    Check valve for oil filters?

Re: RE: Check valve for oil filters? Great suggestion! Hot rodders have been doing that for years to protect their $$$ engines from dry starts. It's a great idea. How to get the oil? maybe through the drain sump plug, then through a filter to a gear pump and to the engine?

ANYBODY HAVE THE SAME EXP. WITH INSPECTIONS?

ok well they told me at the license plate office that insurane was not required. Maybe they made a mistake. About the use, here's the text from the TXDOT site: Former Military plates are issued to vehicles, including trailers, which were manufactured for use in any country’s military forces and...

Help - "spark plug" of manifold flame heater is ba

You can go under the hood and find wire #55, I think, it is the one that feeds power to the heater pump, and the spark coil. hook a temporary wire to the 24V of the battery. Use this to energize for the tests. The easiest thing to do is disconnect the power plug from the pump, unscrew the wire...

    Calendar: Keep or Axe

I've looked at it, but never announced any events. I figure the leaders of the events announce them. I always figured the calendar is good for trying to plan trips to events. The usefulness of it looks more for those who have not subscribed to MVM or MVPA and don't get notices of big events in...

AN/VIC-4, and adding switched 12V/24V to the M35

Today I found the VIC-4 listed and pictured in Jane's Military Communications 1997-1998. so it does really exist. Apparently it is a further upgrade from the modified VIC-1 that used the AM-7046 amplifier in the "Interim Fire Support Team (IFIST) vehicle. The VIC-4 is still used in that...

ANYBODY HAVE THE SAME EXP. WITH INSPECTIONS?

in Texas no inspection is required for a former military vehicle. It is presumed that the owner does or causes to have done a competent safety inspection. It is only required to have the eqipment the vehicle came with. No insurance required either, but it would be as foolish not to have...

    Where's Cranetruck?

This is all really fascinating and I can't wait for the next instalment! It's a real shame about the fire but I'm glad Bjorn was able to help with some things. Still running on WVO?

road trip OCT 22 through NOV 05

I've got 2 weeks off from OCT 22 through NOV 05, and have been working on the Deuce nights and weekends. Begin and end in Dallas TX. The route is not strictly defined yet but I'm looking for 2-lane blacktop, small towns, and interestingly boring places. So far, the central and southeast seem...

    Advice on Evaporator Housing Idea

to cool well with a ton (12000 BTU) of air conditioning you need 400CFM of fan. The M35 heater kit blower can't do enough especially in series with an evaporator. Please post images of how and where the compressor and condenser are mounted, it's very interesting!

M35A2 -> Dual Tanks...where to put the spare?

In quest to find a place to mount a small diesel genset, I have considered mounting the spare to the front bumper, like maybe spareh have been mounted to the fronts of everything from a VW bus to a land cruiser.. It's very heavy, not sure how it would be gotten on and off. well getting it off is...

AN/VIC-4, and adding switched 12V/24V to the M35

OK I don't want to cause confusion over the model number, so until someone can definitively identify it, I'll use "quotes" and call it a "VIC-4". The "VIC-4" (apparently VIC-4) I have here is not simplified but modernized. The PC board shown in fact contains most of the circuitry in a single...

AN/VIC-4, and adding switched 12V/24V to the M35

Are you sure? Look at the control boxes and the extra switches, this system handles four tranceivers where the VIC-1 handles two tranceivers and two receivers. The inside of the amplifier is quite different as well and my NSN's are not VIC-1 NSN's. NOTE: I added the 24V/12V schematic to the...

    another 12/24volt ?

It's a different model of alternator that does not have the negative side internally grounded. I was let to believe it is the rectifier inside that is different, having a gound wire coming out instead of just internally grounding.
