with the torque our motors have,373s would be a good perf.gear,hows it effected your mpg?I plan on 373s eventually,but only after a turbo and OD trans..I generally drive mine 80-100 miles per day as its my work vehicle,so I have to watch MPG.

Excellent write up of a great upgrade,I did this when I added Hella vision plus headlights. I didnt care for the red flex con so switched it to black.and hid the harness behind grill,above radiator.

I want to use the drain behind motor mount to feed my kim hotstart tank style block heater any one know size and thread count?Has anyone done same thing?I want to keep everything on pass. side,then straight up to heater core.85 6.2 1009.

Is there a mechanical oil press. gauge installed in dash? Mine also looked black and oily it wasn't til I did the clean white paper towels in drip area trick to see the color.

My 1009 did same thing,only fluid in that area is hydroboost and master cylinder.I replaced both,was pretty easy. I know it was the hydro, but master cyl. was cheap so replaced both. To make sure what was leaking laid a few paper towels down on floor board where it was leaking and determined it...

So did anyone even look at the mean green website? I was kinda excited they have a heavy duty starter in 24v for my 1009,was gonna go 12v but after further research gonna stay with 24v.

Mean Green Starters and alts.I just got an email they have starters in 12 and 24v,pricey but look high quality.have to be better than the nearly 125$ china starters..

My 85 1009 runs great at every speed but idle,I drive it about 100 miles per day,speeds up to 70 mph,runs very well 20mpg,but idles like it has a big cam in it,and blows black smoke at idle. IP or injectors,or both ? Also starts great when warm but not so good when cold.Has elect.fuel pump...

Anyone bringing any NOS injectors for an 85 1009 6.2? And maybe a good IP or a good core?Last year I got a super nice NOS rear bumper,would love to find a front one.

Changed out leaky heater hoses,while antifreeze drained thought I would put in a new 195 thermostat warms up much faster,I suspect my old one has been stuck open for some time as I would get 15mpg in winter and 20mpg in summer.Also added fuel press. gauges,one into filter,one out of filter.1009...

Thanks for the input guys,currently running dual redtops but seems like front batt. overworked,especially after adding elect. fuel pump.Think Im gonna switch over to 12 volt starter system.I want to keep smaller batts. as I want to turbo it.

Im wanting to switch from 24 volt starting system to 12 volt to eliminate an alt.and some belts.Want to go serpentine system,What year model 6.5 setup should I look for?

Did the electric lift pump upgrade,airtex E8153 pump ,fram G3 prefilter,added a manual switch also.Runs much better but still needs IP rebuilt.Thats next.
