That knock and copper material found in the oil sounds like bearings to me. Your crank and rods could be shot also. Your block could also have damage if one or more of the mains have spun. It's going to be cheaper to just replace the engine. I sold a good running engine awhile back for $700. You...
Bob, I didn't think this would be a problem. I assumed that since the 292 was used in 2-ton trucks that the proper flywheel would be available. Looks like I need to do some more research before I start this project.
I'm mating a 3053 trans behind the 292 so that will help a little on speed. You could be right about the fuel mileage.
The main problem I have with the 230 is the cam. I've seen several worn out with relatively few miles. That and the cost to rebuild one when it does wear out. My old 230 does...
You're a better man than I am. Petty soon my 230 is coming out and a GM 292 is going in. Personally, I think rebuilding a 230 is like trying to polish a turd. I know you and others will disagree and I understand the desire to keep the truck bone stock.
The local FD has a m715 brush truck with a...
DH, I can't believe the thread is three pages long and you haven't had a comment on this. :D
Do cell phone users fall under the "Americans with disabilities act"?
:ditto:
Members don't like to let their "honey hole" to be know.
With that being said, All the good salvage yards in my general area have all been sold for scrap in the last few years . I used to love to visit Howard Hammons place.
The days of wandering over acres upon acres of vehicles...
I'm not sure this is the case on deuce systems. Running out of air in a deuce is equivalent to losing vacuum on a c60 Chevy. The c60 isn't required to have a vacuum buzzer or gauge for that matter.
I could be wrong on this though as I haven't read the law. I do know my buzzer quit working some...
Not likely. The backlash has nothing to do with the winch spinning when disengaged. The PTO gear that meshes the trans gear doesn't have anything to do with the shifting. It is engaged all the time and the shifting is done inside the PTO.
A backlash problem would make a roar all the time and...
Actually, moving your siding inside wasn't a bad idea. Metal siding will discolor and rust fairly quick if it gets wet in a stack and allowed to sit for a period of time.
As for the TMs, they do a good job but I don't like them as much as other service manuals I've used. They are very good at...
You can do it yourself using the back of a chair if you find yourself in this situation alone or everybody is just staring at you while you choke to death. It's not nearly as good and you can break ribs but you may have to try and help yourself if no one else can or will.
Jake Brakes work much better than exhaust brakes. The only problem is that Jacobs doesn't make a engine brake for the multifuel. The way engine brakes work is pretty simple but there's quite a bit involved to build one though. I think it would be very cost prohibitive to build a one-off engine...
The TMs on the site don't work anymore.
You can go here to get the TM- https://www.logsa.army.mil/etms/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewsearchform&CFID=1435612&CFTOKEN=53b2a5744a084d0-2D1A7C3B-C819-75C5-CD034736116A5F0E
For some reason, people think you hold a child's arm up if they are choking. I don't know where this started but I'm pretty sure it doesn't help. The Heimlich works.
Sounds like you accidentally knocked the lever back in.
You should always keep the winch clutch lever (on the winch itself) in the disengaged position and the drum lock in when not in use. The way if for some reason your pto gets put into gear you won't break things.
