could you please point out this mysterious screw in either of the attached drawings - there are a limited number of screws on the injection pump and they all have functions other than what you are describing.
no reason to stop there - the 5.9 cummins can make those numbers...easily. you can have a lot more power w/ the dt466.
what trans are you looking at? initially, i was planning to put the 5.9 cummins and attached nv4500 trans into the deuce (ratios are similar to spicer, OD is a little...
there's no "g" in Cummins.
that wouldn't be a bad combo. that should be a fairly easy combo to locate out of a school bus. look for 5.9 cummins, mechanical injection pump (inline preferred), and backed by a [most likely] Allison at545 auto trans - 3 speed, non-lockup. the trans...
:ditto:
i was also curious about the design of the worm gear face to bull gear contact. this relationship might have specific design to handle the forces which may not be present in the opposite sides of the worm and bull gears.
kind of like running standard rotation ring and pinion gears in...
why is there no point?
how about infinite speed and direction control? not to mention it'd be exponentially safer for a single operator recovery.
GUNGIY, i agree and have been looking into the same thing. when my deuce arrives, it will be on my project list.
why wouldn't you just put an aftermarket inline fuel pump in there? much cheaper and extremely reliable. plus, a whole lot easier to troubleshoot and R/R if required.
also, i thought OD Iron had an inline pump kit?
IIRC, it's on the end of the IP. we used to just replace the top/end cover that housed the solenoid if we had it, as we could never have enough IP assy's on hand to keep up w/ demand (we were a DS unit w/ 58 customer units).
when we were out in the field, we'd pop the hood and pee on the pump - the fuel solenoid gets hot and sticks when it is going bad. usually just the solenoid and not the whole pump.
btw - hot pee stinks. use water if it's available.
you've got a 6CTA cummins with an inline p-pump, right? if you do, lots of power is a few simple hand tools away.... it's the same as getting power out of a 6bta.
got a pyro?
here's a few threads that go over the basics:
