Running gas in a multifuel engine

my motor sargeant once told me that as long as there was at least a 1/3rd diesel, you could run MoGas (gas). personally, i'd run something thick if i were going to run diesel so it doesn't thin out so much. i guess i'd run 50/50 mix of gas and WMO/diesel/30w/etc...

driving with one wheel/tire/axle off the ground

:ditto: and it has an open diff. and there's no pressure exerted on the axle to ground. and the tire is flat. i still don't see it.

    bobbed deuce

you're right 'cougar. but on this site, you're wrong on both accounts - a deuce in stock configuration is the only exceptable version of a deuce. especially in the "hotrodding and modification" forum... Jim - i think that chop looks mean!! truck turned out pretty nice, i...

Work on the War Pig continues

maybe you can answer my original question: why is this claimed as necessary when no one else (at TheDieselGarage) doing a CR cummins swap has to do anything associated w/ the dealer?

driving with one wheel/tire/axle off the ground

well, since that is exactly what i designed in my mind, i'll have to say those are absolutely perfect. [thumbzup] on edit: one thing that i would add is some way to capture/retain the free end of the chain through the upper bracket - maybe a piece that came off the bottom so that you could...

driving with one wheel/tire/axle off the ground

i'm confused about your point - i'm not trying to argue, just trying to understand. How will this hurt the spider gears? the reason i ask how is this: if you chain up the axle (any axle at this point, i don't care) and it is close to level or even up in the air some, you mentioned...

driving with one wheel/tire/axle off the ground

i don't understand - how is chaining up the rear axle more expediant than the intermediate and removing a tire? and how is tire differential speed a concern on the intermediate, but not the rear? ah - you're pulling the rear drive shaft? so, chaining the entire rear and pulling a shaft is...

driving with one wheel/tire/axle off the ground

sooooooooooo take the flat tire off...... ? or, unlock the selectable hub on the intermediate? which is why i'd highly advise against chaining the rear - you will quickly overload the intermediate axle, springs, and tires. so much load on only one rear and off-loading so much of the front...

driving with one wheel/tire/axle off the ground

alright, to try and answer your question without giving advice that you did not solicit in the first place... you are trying to make provisions that would facilitate chaining an axle easier, yes? it seems it would be pretty straight forward on a truck such as a deuce. but to make it even...

Work on the War Pig continues

most all exhaust stack kits incorporate a piece of flex right before the elbow going up through the bed. usually only about a foot, but you're on the right track, nonetheless. and yes, the stacks are secured to the bed in some fashion - usually a bracket to the sides or front edge of the bed.

    gutless turd

that's why i was looking - wanted to disc brake a bob'd deuce for more predictable handling w/ XZLs. but none of the kit companies would touch it, even w/ a GVW of no more than 12k. i'm very interested in your set up. if i could duplicate for the front, then a kit'd rear system would work...

    gutless turd

none of the available kit'ed disc brake conversions will handle anything over GVW of 8k lbs. i've spoken with all of the makers of these kits - most only use a 12" rotor. the closest that i could find to working well was a 14" rotor with f350 calipers, but the manufacturer still wouldn't stand...

    Tow dolly idea??

i agree that a deuce would not be a good donor for a dolly because of the walking beam suspension - when unloaded, the dolly will pitch forward or rearward. the ont in your picture basically has two sets of springs - one for each dolly axle. this would keep your dolly manageable when unloaded...
