Thanks DH!
Spent this morning "compacting" Jason's dolly and trying to find the best way to stow it for minimum bed space.
The space in front of it will see 53 cubies of biodiesl/WVO fuel, about 250 gallons.
Barring something unforeseen, I should be leaving tomorrow morning.
When it comes to gauges, I like quality at low cost, a combination ebay can offer on a daily basis. However, my IH pyro gauge came from a truck salvage yard and cost me $20 (same gauge Kenny has, just about). The boost gauge was a new "industrial " air pressure gauge, which cost $9.99 from...
This is my arrangement of the lights. I added one set of "marker" lights on the front fenders, which are on when other marker lights are on. The second "marker" light on the fender is part of the turn signal circuit.
Park, driving and turn signal lights are shown below.
All wiring was done...
Thanks Gary, that sounds great! If you let the oil sit for a while (days, weeks), the clear oil ends up on top and can easily be poured off and filtered as shown in the image above. The rest that's not clear, the fatty hydrogenated stuff goes into the biodiesel tubs.
Running a little late...
RE: Fuel Gauge Dagnostic Problem -HELP
BTW, the fuel gauge sending unit ground path is as follows:
From the sending unit housing to the fuel pump housing via mounting screws and from the pump housing to frame ground via wire #79. The fuel tank is insulated from ground if it wasn't for that one...
RE: Fuel Gauge Dagnostic Problem -HELP
Since you already pulled the "gauge panel", remove the fuel gauge and also the fuel sending unit from the tank (not very difficult) and bench test both together.
The sending unit is nothing but a variable resistace to ground.
A bypass oil filter sounds interesting, haven't thought about it, though.
I think the elevated soot levels comes from long periods of time at low rpms, running the crane.
I have gone back to Ursa 30 weight oil and will have another test following the CA trip. It should have a lot more high speed...
My TM 9 2320-260-20 shows the wiring several ways as follows (images).
Among other things (?), it protects the electric loads and alternator from a reverse polarity condition with a diode connecting one relay coil to ground. A reverse polarity here would keep the relay from being energized.
Dry liners as far as I know. The additives make the coolant more efficient regardless, so why not use them... better heat transfer and reduction of bubbles (microscopic) and better corrosion protection.
I got Cootrak (sp) test strips on line, about $6 for 50 strips.
The strips that test the...
Lee, this is a copy of a report I have. The $25 includes postage and all lab costs, it's prepaid when you purchase the package.
I also have a special purpose valve on the oil cooler to get the oil sample. It's army issue, I got it from another LDT465 engine.
This is brake bleeding a' la Kenny, after connecting the hose to the MC, just pump the sprayer 30 to 35 times and go about your business bleeding the brakes, one man style.
Works like a charm and no pumping of the brake pedal.
Thanks for suggesting it Recovry4x4!
Lee, trip is delayed a couple of days, something always seems to pop up and it's a "one-man" show at this point.
Anyhow, about the oil filters, you are asking the wrong guy since I have never had a problem with them. Just change them every 200-250 hrs along with an oil analysis.
For your info...
The military batteries have "valves" that seal the batteries when under water. Commercial batteries caps/covers need to be coated with grease for the under water trip...
All exposed terminals are also supposed to be coated, but for fresh water, it may not be crucial. You can also move the...
