Appreciate the info! He is also asking about wheel spacers, which I guess could be machined fairly easily if not available off the shelf.
Keep in mind Adrian is 19 and wants to "play" with his truck, not restore it. :-)
Thanks Cabell for the offer on the images, I'll let you know if he wants them.
I ordered and received a "Brake shoe retaining" kit from Clark Truck parts in WV.
The kit did not include the large U-shaped clip and washer....
Question, are those parts eliminated or did they ship an incomplete kit?
Doesn't look like the U-clip and washer are really needed but my shoes are...
I have to admit that I don't drain my tanks as often as I probably should. Interestingly, the inboard tank is the one that accumulates water/alcohol (from the alcohol evaporator), while the outboard tank rarily has any water in it at all....
Jwaller: Where are the fuel leaks? At the fittings or are the lines damaged?
I have an extra set of the lines from the IP to the injectors if you get desperate.
Corne': Let us know how it goes, may be able to help with parts from my extra injection pump.
Ryan: Your fuel tank is working well...
RE: Re: RE: Old topic-new question
If you find a civvie version, make sure it can handle the pressure.
The deuce brake line pressure is close to 2,000 psi and the rating
of the switch should probably be twice that.
My deuce weighs 17,000 lb empty and the best I have recorded is between 9 and 10 mpg, guess 12 isn't impossible, the multifuel engine is very efficient, that's a fact.
The Hypercycle combustion process, patented in Germany (MAN) in the 1950's and claims that one of the benefits is just that...
RE: flushing brake system
IMHO, a little DOT3 mixed in with the silicone fluid isn't going to do any harm, may even be an advantage to help handle any water that may enter the system.
I like DOT 3, cheap and available everywhere. If I was in your situation and had dirty contaminated brake...
There is an error on page 12-45 of that manual. In the note on top of the page they have the descriptions of the pushrod seal and the piston cup reversed.
When you take the airpak apart the first time, make sure to take notes.
If the pushrod seal leaks, then you'll have no brakes.
A few more images of the log cabin under construction. I'll be done when the rafters are set.
We had to fab an extension for the required 36 ft reach. A couple of 2 by 10's and several bolts did the job...
The unforeseen ocurred! Almost ready to leave this mornig when I got a call from the local VFW post commander. He had been impressed by the "flag pole lift" several weeks ago and asked if I could help place some logs on his cabin project....
Two hours later I'm at the site putting up log walls...
As far as the electrical hook-up goes, a relay is the only way to go if you want to maintain the black out light feature (running the convoy lights only when the head lights are on).
Cabell hinted at this in a previous post.
Below is a diagram that shows how to to it. A 25 amp mil spec relay can...
