    Cranetruck needs some help

Thanks a million Cabell! I or we (if Jason is able to drive up again tomorrow) will be ready for it and hopefully fire up the old multifuel again. I suppose if I had bothered to investigate the fuel leak sooner, like weeks ago, this wouldn't have happened based on David's analysis of the order...

    Cranetruck needs some help

Checked the fuel flow from an open line (disconnected at the injector) and it's dismal, squirts maybe 3 inches at low pressure while cranking the engine. What are the symptoms of a cracked hydraulic head? I'm going to assume that a new hydraulic head is needed and will go ahead and remove it...

Plans for California trip in the works

Spent the day with Jason, traded the dolly for six new 1100's NDCC tires. Great guy! He has a beautiful fully equipped air conditioned shop for any kind of work and he sweatted it out putting the new tires on the rims. I siped all the tires before they were installed on the truck. I replaced...

Plans for California trip in the works

Stopped at the Truckstop at mm84 I40 in AR tonight. The #3 IP to injector line is leaking at the connection to the hydraulic head and I'll have to fix that tomorrow at Jasons. Still haven't attained that mad fanatical look, so I guess I'm okay. Should arrive at Jason's place late morning tomorrow.

Plans for California trip in the works

Made it to the the Flying J truckstop (MM182) just past Nashville today. Truck running well a bit hard to stop at 31,400 lb... Kinda hot, but not too bad. Later

Plans for California trip in the works

Ready at last. :-) Worked on the trailer wiring this morning and found, as usual, a bad ground. Spent the rest of the day on little things loading and adjusting. Got enough biodiesel/WVO loaded for a 2,400 mile range with the trailer, based on the previous trip (8 mpg). Gross vehicle weight is...

Plans for California trip in the works

Almost ready...again. The trailer lights have a poor ground, so I'll be working on it for a while, must have falied on the trip from Georgia because we "fixed" it at Wayne's place before leaving there. Stuck some reflector tape on the trailer for effect. :-)

If you own an M35 you need this!

RE: from 6x6 to 6x2 With any kind of cargo, the two axles are needed, lifting one is fine when empty....Would be nice to have a differential between the two tandem axles, hard to believe that one wasn't built. HRD, good product, saves some of us the trouble of doing it ourselves.

    Tow bar feet

This is what you'll need if towed by a larger vehicle. Image from M1002 10 ton wrecker manual TB 9-2320-357-13. As usual, your workmanship is excellent Leonard.

Plans for California trip in the works

Total horizontal reach is now about 35 feet. We figured that the rafters weighed about 500 lb ea. BTW, in all images the engine is running at 1,400 rpm and uses a 25/75 mix of BD and WVO at 135°F and virtually no visible exhaust.

Plans for California trip in the works

Finished the crane work today and returned home. All the rafters were set and the new steel boom extension worked great. Dang that multifuel doesn't like running at low rpms for hours on end, ran a bit rough coming home, but should be back to normal after a few more miles. It totalled about 25...

    5ton radiator in a deuce?

RE: 5ton radiator in a duece? Probably will, but don't know for sure, but if it doesn't, $50 for a good radiator sounds like a good investment regardless. :-)

    burning some waste veggie

RE: WVO Reblawyer, good luck with your experiments! In time, you will probably notice that if you let the oil sit for a week or so, very little filtering is needed, I just screen it now through a 100 micron screen, which is a lot faster than the 5 micron/denim some people are suggesting and the...

    Front end Death Wobble/Shimmy

The front end is very sensitive to tire wear. I put brand new 1100 NDCC's on my deuce two yeras ago, drove it for 12,000 miles and had zero schimmy/wobble and a lot of those miles were at 55 to 60+ mph. Now, when the outsides of the tires started to show some cupping, I thought I was going to...

Project Baby Hemmt - FOR LEONARD

RE: more baby HEMTT pics Hey Leonard, I'll give you a HIAB demo next week when I roll by your place. Those cranes come in many different sizes and I for one don't know how I'd live w/o one, not to mention the hydraulic outriggers. :-) Looking forward to checking out your project.
