Here's some pics of a 45K winch we mounted on the back of our KW truck. I don't recall the specs on the hyd motor but I can get them if you need them. I will say that you're going to need a 40gpm pump or line speed is going to be awfully slow. Another thing to consider is the 45K winch has no...
I'll start off by saying, I love Mack engines when they are running. When things go wrong you better hold on to your pocketbook though. The good thing is that they don't break very often.
I may have missed something but I don't see where you said what engine the 5-ton has in it. If it is a 800...
:ditto:
That's what I'm thinking. If the department got it "back in the '80s" I highly doubt it's an '86. The military is going to keep a new vehicle more than 4 years.
I'm going to bet it's a 800 series 5-ton.
I have thought of trying to organize a rally here in TN. The problems I run into are trying to schedule around other already established rallies and trying to work around the TN weather (extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter).
I think the state of TN is ideal because it is kind of...
Theoretically F7 is a better condition than H7. As said above, the codes are worthless though. I've seen good items coded HX and complete junk coded F7.
I don't know if you ever changed the wheels but I've changed a many 20" Dayton wheels over to 22.5". Every 22.5 Dayton wheel I've seen will fit in the place of a 20". Most all dumptrucks you see are running 22.5 Daytons on the tag axle. They aren't very hard to find.
Gimpy, I just took a torch and whacked one off my truck awhile back. My truck had the west coast but still had the elephant ear bracket on one side. I would have given it to you if I had known you wanted it.
This is a big problem when dealing with brokers. Some brokers will quote a job and then after they have the job they try and find a trucker that will haul it that cheap. Sometimes they don't and your truck doesn't show up.
I deal with trucking companies and/or brokers on a daily basis. There...
The Google search is messed up and I doubt it will be fixed anytime soon. I have found out that if you copy the actual address in the Google search results and paste it in the address bar on your browser you won't get the redirect.
I never really thought about power steering on my deuce until I got a 5-ton. Man, that power steering sure is nice. I driven deuces with air-assist and wasn't satisfied. I've also seen the threads about changing out the steering gear with a power steering box but really didn't want to go through...
I don't see how he could do it either but if he does I may start looking at buying some stuff a little farther from home. I've got a tractor/trailer but I can't haul for that.
I was actually like you and saw a bunch of his "one liners" and thought something was odd. I did a background check and found a bunch more useless post. That's were I ran across the genset for sale thread.
I also found this thread. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/testing-forums/64442-newbie-here.html
I've got a trailer I've had for several years that looks very similar to the trailer in the pics. The one I have has a steel bed and I think the data plate says "bomb trailer" though. It's pretty handy for hauling things around the farm being pulled by a 4-wheeler.
I'm running corn head grease in my steering and my winch. On my steering gear I screwed the hose on my grease gun to the drain hole and pumped it in until it came out the fill hole. I was worried about the grease not lubing good enough also but John Deere recommends it for any low speed gearbox...
Roll up your windows and close the vents but leave the windshields open. Kenny taught me this trick a long time ago and it works. You'll be much cooler with the windows up and the windshields open. It pressurizes the cab and keeps the hot air from coming in through all the holes. A deuce is...
