I dont think that would give you a voltage issue, I wonder if you could put a potentiometer (rhiostat) on the charging wire to more acurately control the ending voltage.
I got these batteries in a pair of parts blazers i had last year, they more than paid for themselves.
you might need to drop the resistance in the charging cables, do you have a extra set of jumper cables that you could try hooking up in parallel to spread the load across more copper. Before buyin gso heavier guage stuff for a perminant solution.
Also on battery life, the batteries that I have...
moving the axle more than 1" forward could result in having a drag-link that would not be short enough. that comon remedy for this is to go to corss-over steering, but you can't do that with a stick height truck. At least 4" of lift is needed to give enough room for the long drag link that...
RE: plug
i have looked and it does show which pin it is, but doesnt give the voltage parameters. guess I could just hook up a voltmeter and try it out. but at that point, a TinyTach might be easier.
you dont have to modify anything with the steering when move the axle forward 1", any further and you can start to have issues with the stock steering.
i assume that you mean no brake lights.
I would check the blackout light switches. make sure that they are in the right spots. might have a bad switch.
headlight switch might be flaking out. bad contacts.
both are chain driven and have there issues. biggest issue with the np208 aside from the shift forks wearing out, is that the front output can seize if the truck is never put into 4x4 and driven. (insert name of steelsoldiers member here) has seen a truck that had the front output cracked...
there is a block of relays on the back side of the dash, might be from there.
get the wellman 070's
they are the best.
Get a new fuel cap and see if it helps as well, replacing the fuel pump on our trucks is not the most fun thing to do. If you do end up having to do yours, I suggest that you...
you will have to drill a new hole in the spring plate for the centering pin, but thats easy. It will help with the rubbing if you dont want to lift the truck. although you might consider getting some new stock front springs, that would help a lot.
