I have to agree with hndrsonj. Many of the A3s already have the composite hood and there aren't that many A3s out there either. I would think there would be a much higher need for A2 or 800 series 5-ton hoods. The price is a little high also because there are so many good used hoods and NOS...
Alot of the engines that were surplused out several years ago are takeouts. Only recently have they been dumping new/rebuilt engines in any numbers.
If it's a take out, you've got to wonder why they pulled the engine out of the truck. Granted, they sometimes pull engines for only a minor...
It's not for public release. As it says, it's for "Government agencies only".
While I doubt they will come knocking at your door for you having them, they really shouldn't be posted in a public forum such as this.
It could also be that the classification could have been changes since it was...
On the video where you are showing the gauges going down the road, the oil pressure does seem lower than mine. Check and make sure you have a 60psi sender and not a 120psi sender. If you are running a 120psi sender the 60psi gauge will read 30psi when it's actually 60psi.
Looks like you've got...
Eddy, that's kind of what I was getting at in my earlier post. It's so easy to knock a hole in the tank or unscrew the drain plug that I don't think a locking cap is going to do much to stop fuel thieves.
The locking cap will keep vandals from dumping something down into your tank though.
I would think you could make a hitch the same as the one in the "hay train". Only thing different you'd have to do is to make the hitch accept the kingpin instead of a ball. You may also have to extend it out a little farther for clearance issues with the wide neck.
That's a bunch of B.S. How could the sf97 be proof that it wasn't stolen if the sf97 is in somebody else's name? I don't know what the law is on this but if the auction company sold it as having a title they should be responsible.
There's a whole lot of difference in the inside of sprag or a air-shift. They look close to the same on the outside but they are almost completely different from the high/low section back.
The air-shift is prefered over the sprag case.
Disclaimer- I do not recomend welding on a fuel tank of any kind and you should no take internet advice from anybody (including me) about something this dangerous. This can be deadly if you don't know what you are doing.
If you're set on doing this though, the easiest thing to do is to fill it...
I have thought about securing the cap but then I thought, all they would have to do is take the drain plug out. They wouldn't even need a siphoning hose or pump if they used the drain plug. So, unless you also secure the drain plug somehow it will still be fairly easy for somebody to steal your...
How did the rod come loose? Every one I've seen so far looked as if the rod bolts let go. I've been planning on seeing if I can find some different rod bolts, pull the pan, and replace the bolts. Thrown rods happens way too often on these engines.
Ok, I found the link where somebody has already done this.

I don't think this type of hitch would draw any more attention from the cops than a hitch on the truck that's hanging way out the back. To me, this is the way to go if you're...
I had a mil spec pin tested and it is in fact 2024. The test I had performed didn't tell the temper but T361 seems resonable. Now it could be that the spec changed at some point but the pin I had tested was 2024.
If you read the whole thread you'll see were I had the pin tested.
I've had Gerhard's chart since he posted it. After him going through the testing and reading his results, I'm running a brass bolt in my winch. I have several 5/16 brass bolts so I turn them down a bit on the lathe and use them. No broken shear pins or winch yet.
Here's what I'm planning on doing when I get a gooseneck. Convert the trailer to pintle instead of convering the truck. The idea I had was to have the hitch pinned on at the back so it can be removed to tow with a regular truck. There's a thread around here somewhere with pics where somebody has...
Some people get to thinking it's a game (like a baseball game) to where you play to win. While you are playing to win you've got to know when to "throw in the towel". Everybody wants to be a winner but if you pay way too much for an item, are you really a winner?
The only thing I can hope is...
