Something isn't right with the numbers you posted. A 1966 M35A2 should read something like this- 0125-XXXXX (M35A2 W/W should be 0139-XXXXX). There should not be more than 9 numbers stamped in the frame.
If the third and fourth numbers are really "29" , You need to contact David Doyle...
I know my M870 has a tag on the neck. I'm not sure if the frame is stamped somewhere or not. If it is I've never seen it ( I went over it pretty good when I was cleaning it for paint).
They are bad to rust through the frame toward the back where the frame goes up right ahead of the axles. There's a crossmember there that traps mud, dirt, and water. If it's not already rusted out, you need to keep that area cleaned out.
M1075, Do you need the kingpin dimensions? I can measure...
When I posted last night I was going to post a pic but realized I didn't have one. I'll take some pics and post them.
It's just an M870. As far as I know, all M870s have dove tails. Our M870 also has detachable ramps. I'm not sure if they are military or were added by TVA though.
I'm...
Paul, I said I wasn't going to get into the debate but you're trying to drag me in. As I said, I'm comfortable running my cow piss. I know you think I'm dead wrong and that's ok.
I find it hard to believe that a reputable oil company would put something akin to cow piss or BK fry oil in thier...
I think the tough part would be getting all the electronics hooked up. I think the swap would be much easier with a mechanical IP engine.
I'm not a big fan of the Duramax But that's mainly just a personal preference. I'd much rather go with a 5.9 Cummins. :D
Thanks, I'll have some. :D
All I've found out is this- Paul says use GL-5. Some others say use GL-1 (which Paul says dosen't exist). Others say run SAE 50 or similar weight motor oil.
I honestly don't think we're ever going to come to a consensus on this subject. I guess read this thread...
I've got a M870. Our trailer came from the Tennessee Valley Authority and already had the smaller kingpin when we got it. We had to shorten the neck height to get it to work with our civilain trucks. We normally pull it with our W900 KW. The KW has a 45K 5-ton wrecker winch converted to hyd...
It sounds like the threads may be gaulded. The fine threads of the lugnuts will do that every once in a while. If that's the case, you won't get it off without cutting it.
I've had this happen many times. Easiest thing to do is just cut it off if you've got a torch handy. I wouldn't worry about dismounting the tire to do this (the heat will be a long way from the rubber).
If you want to prevent this from happening again, Install the inner nuts (thimble) dry but...
Yea I think Coleman's had them for $35. I bought a couple. Contacted them about getting a couple more and they said they were sold out and doubted they would have any more at that price.
I deal with IFTA on the commercial trucks we run. Like you said, it really doesn't cost anything, until you screw the paperwork up. It does require alot of paperwork to keep up with.
Luckly, in TN you only have to file with IFTA if you're running apportioned tags. On all of my MVs I run farm...
That's just the nature of the pintle hitch. There's going to be more slop than a ball type hitch. I don't find it that big of a problem though and think the pintle hitch has many more advantages that I think outweigh the slop you feel. The pintle is stronger than a ball hitch, has more range of...
For this guy to be a regular seller of deuces, he doesn't know much about them either.
American General sells insurance. They didn't build military vehicles. He also list the truck available to Canadian and Mexican bidders. :-?
The trans may be ok then. A good close up pic would be good to look at to make sure.
At the very least I believe I'd pull to cover and wash the trans out really good with some sort of solvent. All those pieces of gear from the PTO are in that trans somewhere.
