I've been trying to bite my tongue but I think it needs to be said. I hate paying taxes as much or more than the next guy but I wonder why people think they should be exempt from paying taxes (fuel taxes) that everbody else on the road has to pay?
The hitch just has a square receiver welded to it so I can insert other receiver hitches with a ball or whatever to move civilain trailers. If you'll notice there is also a ball mounted on the top for pulling gooseneck type trailers.
On a level wind the rope comes off the top side of the winch drum, over the winder roller on top of the winch, down through the tentioner, and the wire rope exits on the bottom of the whole winch assembly.
This is one of the handiest things I've ever built. I can hook onto a trailer and move it around without ever getting off the tractor. It also works good for hauling wood, water and whatnot around the farm with the tractor.
Off-road diesel (dyed) used to be high sulfur and on-road was low sulfur. Recently they have changed off-road to low sulfur and on-road to ultra low sulfur. They are working on changing it all over to ultra low in the future. For years nobody cared about off-road equipment but the EPA is really...
To everybody advocating running dyed fuel- If you want to take the risk, go ahead and run it. It's not very wise to post your illegal activity in a public forum though.;-)
I asked a officer this very question one time. He said if he pulls up any red at all you are going to get a ticket. It will be up to you to prove in court that you weren't running dyed fuel.
Because it's dyed red. It doesn't matter what you put it in out of the pump. If it ends up in a on-road vehicle you are breaking the law.
In TN you can get fined even running it off-road if it is a taged vehicle.
When you get sucked up into the tornado in the deuce, The wizard would probably get a kick out of you driving your deuce down the yellow brick road. Make sure you get one with troop seats so you'll have enough room in the back to haul the scarecrow, tinman, the lion, and several munchkins.
And there wasn't even a tornado in sight (unless it was sitting under the hood of a m715). :D
I would think a m1009 or a M998 (if you've got the cash) would better suit your needs.
I'm not a big fan of running toward the tornado but I understand some people are. IMO a deuce wouldn't be a good storm chasing vehicle. They are slow and the cab doesn't offer very much protection from flying debris and/or a rollover in high wind conditions (they also catch alot of air).
I...
Alot of times cracked heads are a sign of overheating in a diesel.
Unless they've pulled the head, they are more than likely just guessing when they say it's got a cracked head. I get it home and try and find out what the exact problem is. It could be just something simple or totally...
:ditto:
They will tow one behind the other fine if you put about 300/400 lbs in the front of the front trailer.
Disclaimer- Don't ask me how I know this and I do not endorse towing them like this. ;-)
I tend to like a soft top better. It's alot easier to remove/install by yourself and I just like the looks of them better. I also think the soft tops are a little quieter. It does require more maintenance though. The other posters do make a good arguement that it would be cheaper to buy a...
I've seen rust (and lots of it) in trucks from GL. One would assume that all the trucks comming from GL right now were running DOT5 ( I think the trucks that had rust issues had "use DOT5" written on the dash). Now I will admit that there's no telling what was actually put into the M/C of a GL...
Chuck, I'm not disagreeing with you. I just want to pick your brain a little.
It looks to me like there will still be moisture that can enter the M/C with DOT5 in it (just like it can with a M/C filled with DOT3). Just because water won't mix with DOT5 doesn't mean water can't get into the...
Here's one by Gringeltaube.
This (light duty) dump conversion was done to a 1960 Curtiss-Wright M35 gasser, as part of all sorts of mods. and upgrades, besides a complete frame-up restoration.
Lifting action is accomplished via a fairly small, tranny PTO-driven pump and a single 5-stage...
