Gimpy, You posting on this thread reminds me of when you were down at my place and we were doing this to the front spring rivets. I was swinging the hammer and trying to talk your buddy from Clarksville into holding the punch. He didn't seem to keen on the idea.
I've pulled a unregistered trailer on Ft. Campbell many times. All they care about are the truck tags.
On a side note, you're alot better going through gate 7 pulling a trailer. Gate 7 is the commercial vehicle entrance. There's alot more room there to park your trailer. Last time I went there...
You should always leave the winch lever (on the winch) disengaged and the drum lock in when the winch is not in use. That way if somebody accidentally knocks the PTO lever in gear the winch won't start pulling in cable.
I believe I'd talk to the shop about replacing you cable. They are the...

This is what I do. Works like a charm. Blowing a hole in them does two things. It softens the rivets and also gives it some relief in the hole.
If I was closer to you I'd come by and swing the hammer for you.
I assume you mean AM General. American General is a insurance company and never did build military trucks.
If It is infact a 1952 model it's not a AM General. AM general wasn't around until the early 70s. It may be a 1952 or a AM General but it can't be both.
Good point. Years ago I was painting a tractor in the dead of winter. I sprayed it and the paint had a rough texture to it and no gloss. After talking to several painters they said it was too cold. It had been cold in the shop the night before and I knew it was too cold to paint so I built a...
If it is true that the trans doesn't have an overdrive, it's going to slow your top speed down quite a bit.
I accually like shifting gears and wouldn't install a auto if somebody gave me one. To each his own I guess. :driver:
Yes, a pickup truck with a pintle hitch. You just need to rig you up some temporary 12v lights. I've seen many people tow one with a 1/2 ton. I'd say you'd need a 3/4 ton at the least to tow two stacked.
Nope, I don't think you'd ever be able to fit three without stacking. The trailers don't look that big just sitting there but when you start loading them they take up room fast. You may could put one on top of the other and get three.
I've been bidding on some lots of two but haven't won any...
We've move many of the 40' containers with our Landoll type trailer (it's accually a Trail King). What we to is winch them onto the trailer but leave a little hanging off the back. That way when you go to unload them you tilt the trailer up until the back of the container rest on the ground...
:ditto:
I have to agree. There is no way a 3200# trailer has enough metal in it to support the weight of your payloader. I've seen people do this sort of thing and get by but you're just a accident waiting to happen.
I don't understand your electric brake setup either. You say they run off...
With the nut with the notches removed, it should just slide out. Looks like it's pretty rusty in there. I'd try and shoot some penetrating oil in there and try and wiggle it to try and break the rust free.
I have repaired the pins by cutting off what is left of the old threaded part, drilling...
