    PsycoBob propane conversion

Gimpy, give me a call and I can walk you through the conversion. I've worked on these propane systems for years on the forklifts we use. I may even have all the stuff you need for conversion. Porpane systems are pretty basic. You've got a tank, the vaporizer (sometimes called a regulator), and...

    use towbar to push?

I wouldn't recommend towing one with a smaller truck any distance but I have to think it would be safer than pushing it. The only real issue I've had towing a deuce with my 3/4 ton dodge (off road) is when the deuce decides to turn when you want to go straight. Again, I'm not recommending this...

    Whats wrong now?

The bad part is, I'm still on dial up :(. It took me 30min trying to read a PM only to get "database error" :-x. Wish I had something faster but the cable company wants $2,500 to run cable because I live so far off the road, can't get DSL, cell service sucks, and everybody says Hughes net...

Anybody ever try putting an old Detroit diesel in a 725

Seems like I remember somebody putting a 4-53 Detroit in one over on www.m715zone.com . Several have put a 4bt Cummins in.

How do you justify a Deuce to a wife/gf?

My wife and I have an agreement. I don't complain when I walk in the house and see new livingroom furniture and she don't complain when I drag in another piece of OD. I do try and support my hobby by buying and selling some stuff so I'm not buying MVs with the household funds. She does...

    fuel tanks

If I were wanting to do what you wanted I'd just get some 16ga sheet and build a new tank. Or if you really wanted to get fancy, some .100" AL. That way you could make a tank to the exact dimensions you want rather than trying to make something else work. Another problem you might get into...

    Milemarker hydraulic winches

I start off by saying I've never seen the winch in question but I have delt with alot of hydraulics. Wouldn't the winch have to be plumbed in series with the steering box? For instance, outlet on pump to inlet on winch and outlet on winch to inlet on steering box. Looks to me like if you just...

Taking the MV plunge with my first Deuce

Not necessarily. While I have seen the turbo you're talking about, I've also seen plenty of them with "C" or "D" turbos.

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

My '98 Dodge Cummins has Hyd boosted brakes that runs off the PS pump. Haven't had any trouble with one affecting the other so you should be able to do it with the right setup.

    Repairing a radiator leak

DH, do you have any trouble with contaminants from the inside (where you can't clean the hole) not letting the solder stick? I have tig welded on AL radiators before and this is always a problem on AL radiators.

    Repairing a radiator leak

I've pulled many radiators on deuces. To be honest, I've got two more spare radiators so if I pull it I'll just put another one on there. I just thought I'd try my hand at fixing this one before I went to the trouble of pulling it. That and radiator repair is just something I want to learn...

    Repairing a radiator leak

Somehow I punched a small pin hole in my radaiator on my deuce (must have been a limb or something). I've done welding and soldering all my life but radiator repair has always been a mystery to me. I've got good access to it and what I'd like to do is patch the hole while it's in the truck. Is...

Bug out vehicle Deuce, H1, Suburban,

You don't. I guess if you had a machine shop with you (and knew how to run it) you could make some of the metal parts but that's it.

VIN # Any where else then on dash plate

You shouldn't. Sometimes the data plate gets changed out for whatever reason and the numbers won't match. I've seen it happen more than once.

    What size tools?

I'd go with a 20 ton bottle jack. Those things are way over rated anyway. I'd get some good hardwood blocks instead of using jackstands.

    5 Ton Bump Start

Last week the batteries went bad in my deuce. I had parked in in front of my shop and needed it moved. It was slightly down hill so my brother pushed it and got it rolling slowly. After it had rolled out of the way it was still barely moving. Just for fun a put the trans in reverse and popped...

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

While searching I ran across this. LiftLaws.com - Is Full Hydro Steering Street Legal? Looks like in TN hydro would be illegal.

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

What does a hwy safe steering system consist of? I've worked with hydraulics for a long time and am very familiar with hyd steering as used on off road equipment. The way I see it, you have 4 basic components. You have a hyd pump, a hand pump, a steering cylinder, and the hoses that tie it all...

    Army CB by Cobra

I've got a 29 in the tractor/trailer I drive from time to time. I very seldom turn it on anymore though. Our company has 2-way on our cell phones and I get tired of listening to all the BS on the CB. At one time I had a Cobra 148 running a base station with a Amtron 99 antena mounted 60' in...
