I've taken a battery explosion right in the face. I was young and it was a stupid mistake but I suffered no major damage. While it is very dagerous, it's nothing compared to a wheel lock ring letting go. If I had been that close to a wheel comming apart, I wouldn't be here to type this.
Everybody needs a deuce but not for a daily driver. I think you'll grow tired of it very quick having to depend on it to get you back and forth to work every day.
I'd look for something more along the lines of a CUCV for a daily driver.
I liked the push button in my deuce until it tried to burn my truck down (switch had a complete meltdown). IMO they are a fire hazard. I'll never put another one in my truck.
Well unless you're a Jr. or something, it's very strange that they would know how you are related to somebody.
Have you used your Dad's computer (or he used yours) to log on to your account? Maybe they can tell and made the connection that way.
I busted a nut on a M105 one time trying to remove it. The outer nut that holds the deuce wheels on is the same size. I just used two of them and jamed them up so it wouldn't come loose.
Hard to say what it would be worth. A few months back you could buy a decent winch truck for $3,500-$4,000. With the surplus supply slacking off prices have been climbing lately.
I'm not understanding the problem here. The pump will still pump with the t-case in gear. Why can't you "pump and roll" with the stock setup?
I know most civilain firetrucks run the pump off of the main driveshaft and you can't pump and roll but the deuce isn't set up that way. I know I've got...
:ditto:
When the front is locked in it is locked with the rear axles. Unless you have the rear wheels off the ground also, there is no need to put the trans or t-case in gear.
As earnie said, check for a frame number.
As for the dash data plate, you can use chemical paint stripper to remove the paint. I've used paint stripper before and it will not affect the paint on the data plate. You can also use the stripper for any of your other data plates, just make sure you...
I wouldn't even worry with all this if all I was wanting to do is see if it ran. I may change the engine oil but that would be about it to just here it run. After you find out the engine runs ok then it would be the time to go over everything else. I would just hate to spend all the time and...
On a side note, this quote sparked my interest because I didn't know what a "Babington burner" was. I googled it and it looks interesting. I may have to fab me one up when winter rolls back around.
Does yours work pretty well?
Right now I've all I've got is an oil line running into the top...
I'm no fan of taxes but I don't understand all the outrage with the fuel tax. The fuel tax is nothing new. I don't know when they started taxing road fuel (gas and diesel) but it has been taxed all my life (I'm 36).
It is accually one of the "fairest" taxes there is. I know in TN all fuel tax...
I like to know where people are anyway. I wish the members list was atleast searchable by state. That way you could find other members in your area or find members in the area you're broke down in. Or better yet, just update the member map.
 Ok, I misunderstood what you were trying to say .
My first purchase was a small ticket item. I did it that way so I could go ahead and get the first time EUC out of the way and I didn't really understand what to expect when dealing with GL. I figured that way, if I screwed it up...
I've got a dump also and unless I'm hauling just dirt or very fine rock, I'm very careful about placing the material in the bed. The bed floor is very thin for this type of work and if you're not careful you'll be able to see where every crossmember is in the bed in a short time. You can also...
From my understanding, if it's over 60 days, you can request that the sale be cancelled and it not affect your ability to bid in future auctions. In other words, they are letting people back out of the sale "free and clear" if the EUC is over 60 days.
