It could have been repowered with a multifuel. I had a '53 one time that had been rebuilt sometime in the late '80s. It was in as good of shape as you'll find so you never know until you go check it out.
I'm still a little skeptical of how well hydro will work at hwy speeds, but hey, if you figure out a way to make it work satisfactory I may be interested in doing this myself.
A full hydro system should be cheaper than the other power steering options for the deuce because the parts can be...
Just a friendly suggestion, you may be better off to start a new thread than to ask about a fuel problem in a tire thread. You'll get more responses that way. ;-)
The compressor is driven by the same shaft as the IP but they are not "built together".
Did you make sure your tank drains were closed or you didn't have some other massive leak somewhere? If no leaks I'd start with checking the governor. The compressor on these things are basicly just like...
I guess I'm not understanding what you are trying to say. :???:
The VIN shouldn't have "hd" or "gd" in it.
Edit- never mind. I had deuce on my mind for some reason.
It would help if this was in the right forum.
You can't use blocks in the front. To lift the front will either require fab work and or re-arched springs. If you're going to modify the bob job anyway I'd just start from scratch with a stock truck or buy one that's already fixed up like you want it.
Here's the pump my t-case PTO is driving for my dump Haldex High Performance Gear Pump 1.159 Cu. In., Model# WP09A1B190R03BA103N | Pumps | Northern Tool + Equipment .
It's a Haldex gear pump and is very resonably priced for the GPM and pressure it puts out.
I know you said you didn't want to hear it but I can't resist.
Have you driven a full hydro steering at hwy speeds? I drove a rockcrawler that was full hydro down the road at about 30mph and that was all I wanted. It's just a very odd feeling at high speeds and is hard to keep straight...
I will just add, I'm a little leary of people that advertise "No leaks". I'm not saying that there isn't a completely leak free truck out there but I haven't seen it. I consider a truck to be leak free when I can look under it and there isn't so much as any oily dust on anything.
I try and...
I've noticed it for quite some time but have been keeping quiet about it. I figure that it keeps the competition down for them to be advertising closed auctions.
Funny thing is, I keep seeing a truck in the corner that I bought over a week ago.
How do CNC'd heads help? Hand machined heads are every bit as good as heads machined on a CNC machine. Granted, a CNC will run circles around a machinist as far as speed is concerned but all you are gaining is the speed at which the part is machined.
A innercooler would be a nice addition.
:ditto:
I've bought several trucks from GL and have never driven one off base. To me, there's just too much that can go wrong with a 30+ year old truck that you know almost nothing about. I know people do it all the time but it's not a chance I'm willing to take.
IMO it's the multifuel capability that limits the HP. Mainly the high compression.
I doubt you could even build a multifuel that could pass todays regulations.
Other than that, I pretty lost as to how you would go about building a modern multifuel.
I'm assuming you're talking about the 10K winch that goes on a deuce (the thread title says 10,000lb but your post says 10 ton).
I know on a deuce winch there is only one spring. It goes between your brake band and the hole in the housing where the bolt goes.
