Towing a Deuce with a Deuce

:ditto: Gimpy, why do you say unplug the tank pump?

    axle boot

No, I've never put on a non-zippered boot but I took one look at those ball joints and decided against it. It shouldn't be too bad to install the non-zipper boots if you've got the axle already out but I guess I'm lazy ;).

    axle boot

You're going to have to pull the axle to replace the seal but you have to remove the whole knuckle to install a non-zippered boot. I use the zipper boots myself. They're not as good but a heck of alot easier to replace IMO.

    axle boot

If you have oil comming out of the boot you've got a bad axle seal.

    axle boot

The ones without zippers are better but you've got to tear down the whole knuckle to install them. The zipper boot can be installed without a complete teardown. I've got a couple of extra zipper boots that I'd take $25 a piece for.

    axle boot

As far as I know, all of the suppliers you listed carry the New Star brand. They may also have NOS ones though. New Star also has silicone boots but I have no idea how well they hold up.

    AM General registration/insurance

I've got farm insurance through TN Farm Bureau. No restrictions. I checked on antique/collector insurance and while it was cheaper, I didn't want to be limited on what I could haul.

    How long at Battle Creek?

You think 6 days is long? Try 60+. My last EUC is going on 60 days with no end in sight. And no, it's not my first.

Slick cheap EGT Gauge w/probe (K-type)

The problem with doing this on the deuce (if you drill right before the turbo) is that the only place for the shavings to fall is directly into the turbo. I drilled mine with the engine running. It was alot less violent than I expected. I figured it would blow shavings and hot air everywhere...

Good place to buy selectro hubs

What brand does Jatonka sell? I know he sells them for the deuce but I'm not sure what brand they are. He's great to deal with and is resonable with his prices.

    M35 Gear Shifting correct

It's also hard on the syncros to shift a syncronized trans without the clutch.

    Driving ?

Bottom line is GL is a crap shoot. Unless you inspect the truck pretty good before bidding, you could end up with anything. Seeing as how you have very limited knowlege of the deuce I would steer clear of GL unless you can find a knowlegable person to check it out for you before you bid.

Blitz jerry can holder to small!

:ditto: Mine came off a genset trailer also. It had two on each side mounted on the fenders. I think I also have a few laying around than came off deuces I've parted out. They are mounted on the drivers side step on a deuce (also on the bottom). My M715 has the same holder but it's mounted...

    'New' GL policy...

No. I buy EUC items all the time and they usually take about 10 days max.

    P.T.O Removal on M35

Just be sure you remove this part. It won't hurt anything to leave in in there but if you're going to try and sell the PTO the buyer will need it. A t-case PTO is pretty much worthless without this part.

    24V Digital Pyrometer

I put a Autometer gauge in my truck. I think it was around $120 for the gauge and probe . Just about every major gauge manufacturer makes a needle type gauge.

    'New' GL policy...

Don't know if that's good or bad news. I've been waiting a long time on sale 5068 and I'm getting to the point that I wish they would just cancel the sale and give me my money back. If it stays a year at BC are they going to hold your money that long?

Blitz jerry can holder to small!

I've got several and would take $25 a piece for them.

    Deuce dump project

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/50583-started-my-dump-conversion.html I'm using a Omaha Standard 520 hoist. It's an older unit and I've checked the Omaha Standard website and didn't see it listed. That leads me to believe it's no longer available new.

    P.T.O Removal on M35

You could have a rare Chelsea PTO that fits the deuce trans. They made them but are no longer available.
