My Grandad was an old "horse trader". I grew up watching him "wheeling and dealing". I've seen many times that you take an item $50 is your absolute bottom dollar. You price it for $50 and people will offer you $40 and walk away if you don't come down. You can take the same item and price it for...
The Vo-tech school here has night welding classes. So you could do it after work or school if you have night classes in your area.
When I was in high school they had a ag-mechanics class that taught welding as part of the class. Does your local high school have some sort of welding class?
Don't overlook oxy-acetylene welding. It's become kind of a lost art but still a option IMO.
pros- You can weld almost any weldable metal with the right filler and flux.
You can also use the outfit to cut metal and to heat metal for bending and loosening frozen parts.
You...
All the 301cid 2800/2900 engines are 6 cylinder so that rules them out.
dozer1, I bet that google search turned up a rebuild kit for a 7000 tractor (which would be a 301cid series engine).
I've been around AC equipment all my life (my grandad was a dealer). I've never heard of a 7000 engine. It could be some sort of very large engine they made that I'm not fimilar with.
You say around 300cid? The only AC engines that I'm aware of in that size range are the 301cid 2800 (naturally...
That's the way I understand it. Most states (if not all) have laws that if you sell a motor vehicle you MUST provide a title within a short period of time (I think in TN it's something like 10 days).
This and the dealer thing are just a few of the many laws GL breaks every day. Somehow they...
All of the GL site people I've had dealings with have been helpful. Most won't come out and say it but they're not happy with the way Scottsdale does things either.
One of my "starts and runs" trucks ran fine, stopping was the problem (bad brakes). I've also bought trucks that were "running condition unknown" and they fired right up.
I've only bought 1 truck that didn't have brake issues. I tend to buy on the lower price scale though.
My Grandad used to tell me "a shackle is used in rigging and a clevis was the same thing but a clevis had horse sh!t on it. What he was trying to say was a clevis is what you use to attach horse drawn implements to the horse ( he was an old farmer and rigger and hated when people called a...
I was going to ask if you wanted to double your money until I saw your location. :)
Any time you can get a truck for less than scrap price you can't go wrong. I bought one for $200 one time but it was in alot worse shape than that one.
I thought the push button was kinda cool but after the "meltdown" they scare me. The case of the switch was electrically hot also. I ended up having to unscrew it from the dash so I could reach the connector on the back and while it was dangling it was arcing every time it touched metal. It's...
Well, I'm no longer "singing praises" of the push button light switch. Had mine almost burn my truck down today.
I was out helping my Dad haul some dirt today. I had the stop light position on all day and at one point I noticed it wasn't lit up. I tried to re-enter the stop light function but...
I may have been guilty myself.
I've told people before that are asking about a truck to "ask CARNAC". What I was meaning was "post your info in the VIN info thread and CARNAC will give you the info" but I can see that people may not know about your thread and just send you a PM.
Thank...
I've just rebuilt my winch and now I need to install mine also. It's hot and humid here also but atleast I've got a shop (shade) and a good fan.
Now, you need to repaint you bumper numbers right-side-up.
You may run across one on a civilain truck but it's not very likely. What you'll have to find is a civilain truck with a 3052 trans (3053s were never put into civilain trucks). It's going to be much easier to find either a military dual output PTO or a t-case PTO. Chelsea has deemed the PTO that...
