Camo is really only to fool your eyes. It does nothing to fool infrared sights, satellites, spyplanes, telephoto lens, night vision, etc.
TreBark is to fool animals, which see things differently than your eyes do. Camo should BREAK UP a pattern, not CONSIST of a pattern, like TreBark does...
Will the armor tow hooks I see now and again fit onto the front lifting brackets for the deuce? I don't have one in front of me, but they look like they take a 1" pin....
That's a pretty truck! If it has all the tools inside, it's worth it as a mobile repair shop. If it's stripped, might be good for a camping platform or something like that, but not much else.
I'm going to VA beach in a couple weeks, can pick up on the way back, if that works out. How big are these rims? Just need to know if all I have to do is clean out the Durango, or rent/borrow a trailer.
Last weekend, a few Front Royal area Steel Soldiers members got together for a few beers at the American Legion, each of us driving our trucks. Got to meet each other after mostly just sending PMs back and forth, always a pleasure meeting new folks! Attending our little informal gathering were...
I believe a certain unit in Vietnam used the "yellow nose" so that the unit commander could find his trucks from the air. Something like that, I'm sure someone here knows the details.
Might also try spraying poison around the truck, that stuff will "soak in" and make the truck smell really bad to bees and prevent them from making a home in the future. Doesn't last forever, though, have to re-apply it every couple months. Also, I've heard if you hang a cheesecloth bag of...
Okay, had a great time, met with nickd and his very nice USMC M274 mule at TNJs last Friday, got to meet ironhorse there as well. I didn't find all the parts I wanted, but got enough to make my trip worthwhile.
5tonpuller - found those sockets on a junker wrecker, but the bolts were too large...
Yes, but in some places, you need a CDL to drive a 5-ton truck. If the deuce is the biggest MV you can drive WITHOUT the hassle of getting a CDL, it may be worth the extra $$$ to someone.
I would be interested in owning a M35A3, but the prices are still too high for my tastes.
Send a PM to ShieldWolf37. He's in Front Royal, VA, not far from you, and is big into the tube era radio gear. Might be able to walk you through any repairs you need done.
Anyone in the nearby area who might be interested in it? It's got the original bed, after 50+ years most of the survivors have had the original bed removed. This would be worthy of rescue...
RE: got it home
Sweet! Looks pretty complete, even has the spare tire mounted in the right place. Respool the winch, flip the headlights, and paint her GREEN!
