I don't know for sure. Ian said it was everything. I do know he kept the t-case PTO.
Ian said they took it down to the local fire station to try it out before they took it apart. Said it worked.
I bet you will find it. More than likely for sale again on ebay.
They are either so stupid that they can loose a truck or are so stupid that they think you'll believe they lost the truck. :cookoo:
For those that don't already know, I've picked up the 530B firetruck bed that was on the Xtreme 4X4 deuce. I don't really need it. I only picked it up to keep it from getting scrapped. Several have asked for pics so here they are.
If you look at other diesel engines of similar size and vintage of the multifuel you will find that most of them list max RPM at around 2100. IMO running at 2400+ is just too much.
One more thing to consider is that there is no telling how hard your truck has been run while in the military...
David Doyle had a very good article in Military Vehicles about the deuce numbers. It used to be on the web but I can't find it (and I can't seem to lay my hands on the article at the moment).
Here is a quick run down.
We will use 0540-23541 as a serial number.
The first two numbers (05)...
I've heard of people drilling and tapping with the engine running to keep the shavings blown out. I wonder how easy that would be though due to the fumes and the heat.
It's still a free market. Anybody can still bid on the items. Anybody is welcome to bid on the contract also. It comes up every few years and anybody with the resources to handle the terms of the contract is welcome to bid.
GL has a government contract to sell all of the U.S. Military surplus items. If you are going to buy stuff right out of military service you've got to deal with GL.
I've got the push button in my truck. It came that way from GL. I don't think I'd switch if the truck didn't already have one but it works fine. It takes some getting used to and to learn the sequence to get the functon you want but I like it.
True, but that only works for trucks built between the mid '60s untill '72. In '72 they changed the numbering system and the year is no longer included in it.
In the '80s they changed the system again. On these trucks the year is the first two numbers.
Well if the back battery has a bad connection so does the front one. The batteries are in series so the connections have to be good for either battery to work. The only way I could see this happening is that you have a 12V draw off of the back battery wired separately from the main cables. If...
Be carefull with that. As a rule of thumb the tow vehicle needs to be as big or bigger than the towed vehicle. You should be ok but just take it easy .
Chuck, I see what you are saying . I was just going by how I sell trucks I bought from GL. I buy the truck and pay GL sales tax. When I go to the DMV (with SF97) I show them my invoice where I've already paid sales tax and they don't charge me any tax. The only time I may have to pay a...
If the vehicle was bought from GL the taxes have already been paid through GL. Don't know about other states but TN will not accept a SF97 in someone elses name. In TN you might as well take the SF97 and wipe your a** with it, atleast you'll get some use out of it .
A fan clutch won't work for what you are wanting to do (unless I'm missing something). Should be able to find a small air cylinder off of e-bay or something to fit your needs.
Gimpy, What did Buddy Hammond want for his bed? I remember you checking on it the last time you were there. Probably could have got it cheap near the end. I pretty sure he ended up scrapping it as there is nothing left there :-(.
This poll has been a shock to me so far. I figured the overall age group would have been younger. Don't know why I thought that other than most of the SS members I have met have been around my age (35) or younger.
Wait a minute, looks like the younger crowd is gaining with the late night crowd.
As a side note, most any kind of old furnace that has been used will be radioactive. I don't know what causes this (must have something to do with the heat) but I scrapped some old funaces and they set off the radiation detectors at the scrap yard. The scrap guy told me that most old furnaces...
