I have not done mine yet, but I did do a Kaiser M715. I painted about 1/4" of bedliner inside the cab and it made a huge difference. I also did the battery box, which rides between the seats on a M715. I cleaned out the inside of the box as best I could, probably should have sand blasted it...
Nice looking truck, I really wish I had held out for a 5 ton, like my original plan. Instead, I bought a really nice M1009. I wonder how much longer the steady diet of deuces and five tons are going to last. They have been pumping those bad boys out. It seems like they have been selling some...
GM made lots of 6 lug 16 inch wheels, they are probably too narrow for this application though. From the late 1930s through the early 1960s all half tons had six lug wheels, most of them were 16s. Toyota 4x4 wheels are six lug as well. I used to run aftermarket Chevrolet wagon wheels on my...
I see I do not type so well on my cell phone! Anyway, Your truck looks great! You could have swapped hoods with me... I like the MP stencil on yours. I doubt the camo patterns would match though. Did you happen to take a walk around mine to see what the tailgate damage is?
3/4 tank of fuel...
Ni euc yet. Your truc looks great! The back glass weould not tae much to fix. Thanks for the photos! My. M1008 was no load at all on my brothers trailer. His Ford pulled it faster than I could have driven it!
I say go for it! I remember seeing some photos of a proto-type Suburban. I should have keep the magazine. It looked killer! I suppose even if I had kept it, it would be a violation of their copyrights to use their photos.
I was taking a shoplifting report at the Bossellman Truck Plaza and spotted a lo-boy with three CUCV pickups on board. The front one had the front tires up on the fifth wheel deck. The rear one had a little trailer overhang. Anyway, wonder if they were members trucks or if it was one of our...
I'll try to remember to get a photo, I just used a simple aluminum angle and drilled three holes in the bottom of the bumper. I used self tapping bolts. I put an LED light in the angle above the tag. It takes about 2 minutes to unplug and remove the three bolts to play in the rocks, it is on the...
Sweet! Take a look at mine while you are there and see if it will start, providing they will let you. It would be nice to know if we need a winch to load it. Thanks, Glen
:roll:Come on Guys... its not that bad... he has upgraded it with a chrome tailgate latch, mirrors and a console!:roll: I am surprised we are not having a bidding war for this highly detailed machine.
Thanks for the photos, history like that is sweet to see. I am betting the line workers enjoyed putting these together. They had to be so much simpler than a loaded civilian version.
Nope, two bolts up into the block. That is the main weak point of the design. If they went to the bellhousing, like a lot of trucks do, the bolts would have sideways shear under torque. The GM design allows the torque to work like a lever on the length of the bolt. Normally it is not a problem...
Along the same lines, can we swap springs and all? Are the spring perches and shackle mounts different? Just curious and figured somebody here would know. ;-)
Thanks, I wish we could arrive on the same day, sometimes an extra hand or two can really help with a dead load. Hopefully they will both start and we can drive them on. Glen
