700 miles in the rain at night no plates and the j-pipe blown out in a tan deuce no problems. for a cop to pull over a military truck that is driving fine ( no beer cans flying out, weaving ect ...) he would opps or she would have to be a comie
I use to do that to my friends 88 chevy short box. He would leave it running somewhere and I would jump it it get going about 5mph and shut it off then hit the key and put it in R and pop the clutch. That all ended when he put it in 1st and backed in to a car, and I got a black eye.

when my truck did that it was the manifold hose on the head ( them little 3 inch long conector hose fron the intake to the head) they seal for @#$# there just too short.
mine is a "A2" and it has the little plug. should be on the back of the unit on the round cover. To oil it take the plug out and use AIR tool oil. just a couple of drops every couple of monthe and it should be great.
could be a vac leak, or the timing is too retarted. spray brake cleaner around the intake and carb base, and if it reves up a tad there is your vac leak. NOW BE BRAKE CLEANER WILL GO POOF ( BIG FIRE BALL) SO LOOK OUT! but it works great for finding leaks.
